This page explains how to use the Volume tab in the Reports feature of the Matter Management module.

What You Can Do in the Volume Tab
1. Change filters and display settings (applies to the entire tab)
a: Select users
Filter the data to show a specific member.
b: Set periods
Choose a time range by month.
By default, the last 6 months are shown.
You can select up to 1 year at a time.
2. Analyze new matters
a: Role
Shows the number of matters created during the selected period. You can see monthly changes in new matters and compare them with the same month last year.
b: Breakdown
Change how the data is shown to see what types of matters (by matter type) or where requests come from (by Requesting department) are increasing.
You can also view a pie chart showing the overall distribution for the selected period.
c: Year-over-year comparison
Select [Show previous year] to compare with the same month last year and see whether the number of matters has increased or decreased.
d: View details
Click a month in the chart to open a list of new matters for that month in a new tab and view the details.
3. Analyze completed matters
a: Role
Shows the number of completed matters and how this changes by month.
Data is based on the last updated date (when a message was last added to the matter).
Only matters marked as Completed are included.
b: Breakdown
Change how the data is grouped to view breakdowns from different perspectives.
You can also view a pie chart showing the overall distribution for the selected period.
By matter type / Requesting department: See which types of matters and which departments handled the most requests.
By due date status: See the share of On time, Overdue, and No due date to understand how well deadlines are being met across the team.
c: Year-over-year comparison
Select [Show previous year] to compare with the same month last year and see whether completed matters have increased or decreased.
d: View details
Click a month in the chart to open a list of completed matters for that month in a new tab and view the details.
4. Analyze completed matters by assignee
a: Role
Shows the number of completed matters each user handled during the selected period. Compare results across members to see who handled more matters.
Data is based on the last updated date (when a message was last added to the matter).
Only matters marked as Completed are included.
b: Performance insights
Go beyond total counts by checking overdue status and switching between Main assignee and Sub-assignee results. This helps you review performance from multiple angles.
c: View details
Click a user’s name to view a chart of their completed matters on the right.
5. Analyze completed matters by assignee (detailed)
a: Role
Shows the number of completed matters each user handled, by month, during the selected period. Compare monthly results to see who handled more matters.
Data is based on the last updated date (when a message was last added to the matter).
Only matters marked as Completed are included.
b: Breakdown
Change how the data is grouped to analyze results from different perspectives.
You can also view a pie chart showing the overall distribution for the selected period.
By matter type / Requesting department: See which types of matters and which departments handled the most requests
By due date status: See the share of On time, Overdue, and No due date to understand how well each user meets deadlines
c: View details
Click a month in the chart to open a list of completed matters for that month in a new tab and view the details.
