What Counts as a Resource
Resources are the building blocks of Leland+. They’re the individual pieces of content — videos, PDFs, or downloadable templates — that customers can watch, read, or use to take action right away.
Here’s a quick overview:
Videos: Short lessons, mock interviews, recorded classes, or walkthroughs.
PDFs: Examples, guides, or reference documents like essays, resumes, cover letters, or interview prep packets.
Downloadables: Templates and workbooks in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word — think trackers, models, or brainstorming forms.
Each resource earns money based on time spent on each piece of content.
What Makes a Great Resource
Clarity: Have a specific purpose and clear takeaways.
Accuracy: Everything should be factually sound and well organized.
Specificity: Tailor the resource to a particular audience or category.
Polish: Clean design, easy to read or follow, professional but approachable.
Authenticity: Unique insights (not AI-generated) and unique style (create content that feels like you, no need to use Leland colors or branding).
How to Create Resources
📹 Videos
Keep them 3–10 minutes for most topics (longer is fine for deep dives or mocks).
Use high-definition video (720p+ resolution) with a 16:9 ratio (fits horizontally on a computer screen like a YouTube video).
Record in a quiet, well-lit space with a tidy background.
Start with a short introduction about yourself and what viewers will learn, and end with a clear next step.
Add visuals (slides, whiteboard, or on-screen examples) to keep things engaging.
Recommended tools: Canva (or Zoom, Loom, Google Vids, Camtasia, iMovie, Screenflow, Snagit, etc.).
📄 PDFs
Examples: essays, resumes, cover letters, interview guides, or question banks.
Keep under 50 pages. For guides, we recommend 2+ pages of content.
Include original prompts for essay examples.
Redact all PII properly before submitting.
Use clear titles, section headers, and bullet points.
⬇️ Downloadable Resources (.XLSX, .PPTX, .DOCX)
Examples: networking trackers, recommender prep packets, feedback rubrics, financial models, or study planners.
Include a short “Read Me” or instructions section; video instructions are highly recommended to maximize engagement.
Label inputs and outputs clearly if you’re submitting a model.
Maintain consistent formatting and working formulas.
🎥 Free Event Recordings
Valuable, organized, and relevant sessions only.
Professional audio/video and clean visuals.
Introduce yourself, end with a takeaway.
Coach-planned events can be uploaded via support ticket (submit in the bottom-right corner of this page); Leland-planned events are added automatically.
Uploading an event recording also grants Leland+ access.
Resource Best Practices
Do not use external logos, links, or promotions.
We will not upload content that feels overtly AI-generated.
We will not upload content that's available for free online (e.g., a YouTube video).
Cite public frameworks responsibly and build upon them with your own insight.
Plan for specific, actionable, and detailed resources as these tend to perform best.

What a Course Is
Courses are structured learning experiences that go deeper than individual resources. They’re designed to be a step-by-step guide from understanding to applying a concept.
A standard course has 2+ modules, and each module includes 4-8 resources (videos, PDFs, or templates). Every video and activity should build toward a clear, tangible outcome.
How to Earn with Courses
Every resource inside your course contributes to your total engagement, which determines your payout. Courses that combine short, focused videos with strong templates and clear action items usually perform best.
How to Build a Course
📘 Step 1: Plan Your Idea
Before creating, confirm the topic and scope. You can see Example Course Topics at the bottom of this page or check out the content request list for inspiration. This ensures your course fills a need in the library and saves you time later.
🎢 Step 2: Structure Your Course
A helpful flow looks like this:
Overview: Introduce the topic and what learners will gain.
Strategy and Frameworks: Explain key concepts and approaches.
Application: Include templates, examples, or exercises.
Wrap-Up: Summarize and point to next steps or related coaching.
📋 Step 3: Create an Outline
Make a copy of this template and fill in:
A course title and description
Module titles and descriptions in order
A list of planned resources (videos, PDFs, templates) for each module
🛠️ Step 4: Produce the Resources
Follow the same quality standards used for individual resources: HD video, clean audio, clear writing, professional design, and category-specific insights.
📦 Step 5: Organize and Submit
Fill out the necessary information and submit your Course Details.
