Student specific responder tools include read-aloud, high contrast, and calculator.
Read-Aloud β This feature allows students to hear the student actions (questions) and/or passages read aloud.
High Contrast View β This feature allows selected students the choice of viewing actions and passages with or without a high contrast view. High contrast displays light text on a dark background.
Calculator β Select Basic Calculator or Scientific Calculator.
To Set the Student Specific Responder Tools
Access to these tools is student and teacher specific.
1. Click on Students from the left hand menu.
2. Click on the selected student's underlined name.
3. Scroll down on the Student Panel to the Accommodations and Modifications section.
4. Use the drop down menu to select the appropriate Read-Aloud accommodations. Choose from Student Actions Only (only reads the questions) or Passages & Student Actions (reads both the passages and the questions).
5. Click the box to select the High Contrast accommodation to turn on high contrast.
6. Click the box next to the Basic or Scientific calculator to allow access to a calculator.
Students Accessing Read-Aloud
1. Students will click on the Speaker icon to hear actions (items) read aloud.
2. Students will click on the Play button to hear passages read aloud.
Students Accessing High Contrast View
1. Students can slide the High Contrast button to the right to turn on this feature. Students have the ability to turn this feature on or off at any time.
Students Accessing the Calculator
1. Students will see the Calculator icon in the top right corner under the Next button. Click on the calculator icon to open the calculator.
2. Students can use the keyboard number pad or click on the calculator buttons.
3. Click the calculator icon or the Up triangle to close the calculator.
4. For written response actions, students can copy/paste equations directly from the calculator into the text box within the action.
