Important Notes

  • The retake data is kept separate from the original assessment data to maintain clarity in reporting and analysis.

  • It’s essential to communicate with students about the retake assignment so they are aware of the opportunity to improve their understanding.

  • Teachers can assign one retake for each completed assessment.

  • Retakes appear in a distinct column on the Reports Landing page, ensuring clarity between original and retake data.

  • Teachers have full control over the assignment of retakes. Students will only see the retake option if it has been explicitly assigned by the teacher.

Options for Retakes

When assigning a retake, teachers can choose from the options regarding how the assessment is presented to the students:

  1. Edit Incorrect Items Only (With Previous Responses Shown) – Students see only incorrect items with their previous responses and can update them. The score combines correct original answers with updates.

  2. Edit Incorrect Items Only (No Previous Responses Shown) – Students see only incorrect items without previous responses and can update them. The score combines correct original answers with updates.

  3. Edit All Items (With Previous Responses Shown) – Students see all items with previous responses but don’t know what was correct. They can update any response. The score reflects correct answers on this retake.

  4. Start Fresh (All Items, No Previous Responses Shown) – Students see all items with no responses selected. They start fresh, and the score reflects correct answers on this retake.

  5. Edit Incorrect Items Only (View Correct Items with Responses Shown) – Students see all items, with correct ones marked. They can update only incorrect items. The score combines correct original answers with updates.

Note: Students who received a 100 on the original assessment will be marked as ineligible for a retake for the "Incorrect Items Only" options.

How to Assign a Retake

  1. In the left menu, navigate to the My Activities section.

  2. Find the completed assessment you wish to assign a retake for and click on the green Assign Retake button. Please Note: This button will only appear after at least one student has received a score.

  3. Click on the Assign Retake button

    • Select the option to assign a retake.

    • Choose one of the four retake options listed above based on your teaching strategy and the needs of your students.

  4. The app will then create a new assessment copy with “Retake” appended to the title.

  5. In the new panel that opens to the right, select the students or classes you wish to assign a retake to. Please Note: If there are students not shown, they have not completed/received a score yet on the original assessment. They will need to have a score to be able to have a retake assigned.
