On 10 December 2025, the Libraro team hosted a community webinar to share key updates about the platform and upcoming Libraro Prize, our first global writing competition launching in January 2026.
This event brought together writers, readers, and publishers from around the world to learn more about how the competition will work, what to expect from the judging process, and how the platform is evolving to make the experience smooth, fair, and exciting for everyone involved.
The Libraro Prize will award a £50,000 publishing deal to the winning writer and a £10,000 reader reward for the community member who helps discover that winning work. The goal of this initiative is to open the door for undiscovered talent and create a transparent path between creators and publishers.
During the webinar, the Libraro team discussed new updates and features that have improved how the platform works and deeper dive into questions about the Libraro Prize, for example, how submissions will work, how the judging and reader voting systems are designed, and how we are ensuring fairness and data security throughout the competition.
Below, you’ll find a summary of the most frequently asked questions from the session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to upload sample chapters or my full manuscript for the Libraro Prize?
Writers entering the Libraro Prize will upload their full manuscript, but it will only be visible to the judging panel and publisher at the very final stage of the competition. Until then, only your selected sample chapters will be viewable to readers for feedback and engagement.
Will competition uploads keep the same comments and likes as before?
No. Entries for the Libraro Prize will be processed as new uploads, meaning they will not carry over any previous likes, comments, or engagement data. Each submission in the competition will start fresh to ensure fairness and consistency for all participants.
Is the Libraro Prize a one time event, or will there be more in the future?
This is our first major competition, but it’s designed to pave the way for many more. Depending on its success, we plan to host future contests and collaborations with publishers who may use the data from this event to support or sign promising shortlisted authors.
How does the Libraro system differ from the traditional publishing route?
Libraro streamlines the publishing process by manoeuvring many of the traditional barriers. Instead of spending months submitting to agents or waiting for replies from publishers, writers can upload their work directly, gain real reader engagement, and have the chance to discover their unique audience. The platform allows your writing to speak for itself.
How does the reader voting part of the Libraro Prize work?
We’ve implemented technical safeguards to prevent manipulation or unfair voting. Our system focuses on genuine interaction and engagement rather than simple clicks or popularity contests. This ensures that votes reflect real reader interest and feedback, keeping the competition fair and credible.
Is the prize and platform global?
Yes. Libraro welcomes submissions from writers worldwide. However, for judging consistency, all submissions must be uploaded in English.
How many readers do you expect to take part in the competition?
While unable to give a specifc figure we reasonably assume that based on our current partnerships and collaborations, we expect tens of thousands of readers, potentially reaching into the hundreds of thousands, to participate in reading, reviewing, and engaging with entries.
How can we make it clearer that Libraro never shows the full manuscript publicly?
We understand that protecting authors’ work is a top concern. To reinforce this message, we’re updating our landing pages, Help Centre articles, and community content to clearly explain that the full manuscript is never shown publicly.
We’ll also include testimonials from key trending authors on our platform to help illustrate how Libraro protects their creative rights and promotes their visibility safely and fairly.
