Important Notice

Due to ongoing works in the departure lounge, we are currently unable to offer pre-flight tours.

Hidden Disability Sunflower Lanyard

We are members of HDS - Global, an organisation supporting individuals with hidden disabilities through the use of the sunflower lanyard.

Wearing a sunflower lanyard is a voluntary way to let airport staff know you may need:

  • Extra time

  • Clear guidance

  • A bit more support when travelling

Please note:

  • The lanyard is not a fast track ticket through security.

  • One lanyard per travelling party.

  • It is designed to support your experience, not expedite processes.

Sensory Space

Our sensory space offers a calming environment for passengers who may find travel overstimulating.

The space is offered in partnership with ABM and is available by pre-booking only on a first come, first served basis.

When booking, please include the following in the special request box:

  • Flight number, destination, and departure time

  • Number of people using the space

  • Whether you’ve booked assistance

If you have questions, please email: customerservices@liverpoolairport.com

Please note the space is advised to be used between 08:00-18:00 currently, due to the boarding gate next to the room being used, making the area busier than we would like. If you are still happy to use the space outside of these hours, that is not a problem.

  • Recommended use time: 08:00–18:00, as the nearby gate may create noise during other hours.

  • You are welcome to use the space outside of these hours if you’re comfortable.

  • Arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight to allow time for check-in and security.

  • Visit the ABM assistance desk, located opposite Starbucks, for Sensory Space access.

  • You’ll need to vacate the space when boarding begins (usually 40 minutes before departure).

Please note: Food & Drink are not permitted inside the sensory space.

Ostomy Awareness

Passengers with an ostomy may find these services helpful:

  • Self-mobilisation cards available at the assistance desk (opposite Starbucks).

  • Option to request a private security search.

  • Upgraded accessible facilities, including surfaces for supplies.

  • A changing place facility is available upon request.

Dementia and Cognitive Impairment

We offer guidance and tips for travelling with or supporting someone with cognitive impairment:

  • Plan your journey– consider choosing familiar destinations.

  • Checklists can help you organise documents and essentials.

  • Arrive at least 2 hours before departure to ensure a relaxed experience.

  • If wearing a Sunflower Lanyard, try to keep it visible at all times.

Access Card- Nimbus Disability

We work closely with Nimbus Disability to support passengers who use the Access Card – a photo ID card designed to discreetly communicate access needs.

What the Access Card Offers:

  • Highlights barriers you may face.

  • Shows symbols representing your needs.

  • Accepted at a wide range of events and venues.

  • Supported by a mobile app with detailed accessibility listings.

Please note:
The Access Card is not a fast track ticket through security, but helps staff provide appropriate support and adjustments.
