This guide will walk you through creating a CSV file of your work accounts to import to Lockwell's secure password vault.

Do you save passwords in your browser or use a different password manager? Follow our step-by-step guides to export your passwords!

Lockwell supports imports from the following password managers without any updates to the exported CSV file:

  • Keeper

  • 1Password

  • LastPass

If you use an alternate password manager, you may need to follow this guide to format the exported CSV file of your accounts prior to importing them. Don't use a password manager? You can also follow this guide to manually create a CSV file of your passwords to import to Lockwell's password vault!

πŸ’‘ If you only have a few passwords, it may be easier to add them manually.

Step 1: Create your CSV file in Microsoft Excel or a similar program

  • You can also download the example CSV at the bottom of the page

Step 2: Add titles

  • In the first row, columns A, B, C, D must be titled in this order: title, website, username, password. See the screenshot below.

  • Optionally, you can add a fifth 2fa column in column E, if your passwords have 2FA code links to import.

Step 3: Add your accounts beneath the first row

Mandatory:

  • title column: Name of the account

  • website column: Website of the account

  • username column: The username of your account

  • password column: The password of your account

Optional:

  • 2fa column: 2FA code links

    • Example: otpauth://totp/ID:100086503989057?secret=672FPCO6GPTO3SG4EOM57DRHNWDWKAOL&digits=6&issuer=Facebook

Step 5: Save the formatted CSV file

  • Save the modified CSV file with the appropriate formatting adjustments, ensuring that the file extension remains "CSV"

Step 6: Import your CSV file of accounts

  • Follow this guide to import your CSV file of accounts to Lockwell's password vault, or watch the video below!

Step 7: Delete CSV file after import

  • It's important to delete your CSV file after successfully importing your accounts to Lockwell, because it contains your account information in an unencrypted format.

An example of a properly formatted CSV file is attached at the bottom of this page, feel free to download and use it to create your CSV file of accounts for import!

Import Tips:

If your team had a previous password manager and passwords have been shared with the team, we recommend all team members export only the records they own and share them with whoever on the team needs access after importing them to Lockwell.

  1. Import the accounts/records you own (not accounts that have been shared with you) into Lockwell's password vault.

  2. Once your records are safely imported into Lockwell's vault, you can then proceed to share them with your team as needed.

Your security is our top priority!
