How do I void a label?

Cancel a shipping label safely when the Void label action is available.

Written by Max Villemure

Quick answer

Use this article when a shipping label should not be used and needs to be cancelled. Void the label only when the Void label action is available and the package has not already been handed to the carrier. If the label was scanned, the carrier refuses the void, or the action is not visible, contact Logentic before creating more labels.

Before you start

  • Confirm the package has not been handed to the carrier.

  • Confirm which label is wrong and which label, if any, should still be used.

  • Keep the order ID, tracking number, and carrier ready.

  • Do not create repeated replacement labels until the wrong label is voided or clearly marked not to use.

Steps

  1. Open the order or shipment in Logentic.

  2. Find the label that should be cancelled.

  3. Select Void label if the action is visible.

  4. Confirm the label should not be used.

  5. Create a corrected label only after the incorrect label is voided or clearly marked not to use.

What good looks like

The incorrect label is no longer used, and the team knows which label is valid for the package.

Common blockers

If this happens

What to do next

Void label is not visible.

Contact Logentic with the order ID, tracking number, carrier, and a screenshot of the shipment.

The carrier refuses the void.

The carrier may block voiding after a deadline or scan event. Contact Logentic with the tracking number and carrier.

The package already shipped.

Do not void the label without checking carrier status. Contact Logentic.

Multiple labels exist for the same package.

Stop and confirm which label is valid before printing, scanning, or handing the package to the carrier.

When to contact Logentic

Contact Logentic when Void label is not visible, the label was scanned, the carrier refuses the void, a refund is needed, or multiple labels exist for the same package.
