Bring more data into a table you already have

Add rows or lists to an existing table with Sources, the Import tab of the Add column panel, or the row box at the bottom.

You can keep adding data to a table after you create it. There are three places to do it.

How do I add blank rows?

Under the last row there is a box with a number: Add 10 more rows at the bottom. Change the number, then click Add. Double-click a cell, type, and press Enter to fill it. The footer also says "or press N for one" to add a single row.

A table with five rows of companies and, under the last row, an Add button and a box holding 10, followed by the words more rows at the bottom or press N for one. The Add button and the number box are outlined in red.

What is the Sources button?

In the toolbar, Sources — add rows to this table opens a short list:

  • Find people at these companies

  • Import CSV

  • Webhook & API

  • From Clay

The top of a table with its toolbar. The Sources button, outlined in red, is open and its menu lists Find people at these companies, Import CSV, Webhook & API and From Clay.

Import CSV opens a dialog called "Import CSV / XLSX". It says: "Upload CSV or XLSX data into this table." It adds rows to this table. The Import CSV row on the Import tab opens the same dialog. For the steps, see Import a CSV or Excel file. That article also covers the import from Home, which creates a new workbook and table.

To receive rows from another tool with Webhook & API, see the article on sending rows into a table with a webhook.

What is on the Import tab?

  1. Click Add column, then Add enrichment.

  2. Open the Import tab.

The tab says: "Bring in new records. Each source says where they land: new rows, a new table, or a list in a column. To add data to existing rows, use Enrich."

Under Files & feeds are Import CSV (Adds rows, upload a file), Webhook & API (Adds rows, receive rows from any tool) and From Clay (Adds rows, send rows from a Clay table). All three are labelled Free.

The Import tab of the Add column panel. A line says to bring in new records. The Files and feeds group lists Import CSV, Webhook and API and From Clay, each marked Adds rows and Free. Below it, the Find people group starts with Find people at these companies, marked New table and Free.

The other groups produce a list in a column, except Expand Google search results, which adds rows:

  • Find people: Find people (Surfe), Search people (Apollo), Emails at a domain (Prospeo), Find people at company and New hires at company (AI Ark).

  • Find companies: Find companies (Surfe), Lookalike companies (AI Ark), Similar companies (PredictLeads).

  • Find jobs & posts: Find jobs and Find posts (Up2Data).

  • Search the web: Expand Google search results (adds rows, one row per web result).

Each row shows its own label: Your own key, a price per row, or both. A price per row is paid from your wallet.

How do I turn a list result into rows in another table?

A source labelled List in a column puts its result in one cell. To get one row per item, use the list cell. This was tested with Similar companies (PredictLeads). Its line reads "List in a column · Ranked, with the reason each matches · PredictLeads · Your own key or $0.0017/row".

  1. Run the cell. For example, right-click it and choose Run 1 cell. The cell shows text such as "20 lookalike companies (of 25)". When nothing is found, it says "No lookalike companies found".

  2. Select the cell and press Enter. A tree of the result opens, with a Search box.

  3. Every field and every item has an Add to column button. It puts that value in its own column.

  4. The lists, Items and Notes, also have Take action on list. Its menu has three items:

    • Filter, find keywords, and more using formula

    • Write each item to new row in other table

    • Ask question about items with AI. Its second line says "Uses wallet".

  5. Choose Write each item to new row in other table. A column panel opens, called Export › Send Items to table.

A list field, Items (20), with the Take action on list menu open. It lists Filter, find keywords, and more using formula, Write each item to new row in other table, and Ask question about items with AI, marked Uses wallet. Write each item to new row in other table is outlined in red.

The panel has these fields:

  • Destination: "Choose which table to send data to, or create a new one." Until you pick one, the footer says "Destination table is required."

  • Method: "Send row for each item in a list". It says: "One destination row per item, up to 1000 per run. Always creates new rows."

  • List to flatten: the column, plus a path box. In the test it started with "items". It says: "Each item becomes its own row. Leave the path empty when the column is the list itself."

  • Also send from this row: "Columns from this row, copied onto every row the list produces. The item's own fields are sent automatically."

  • Additional Data, with Add field.

The footer says Free. For sending rows to another table in general, see Send rows to another table, or look up data from one.

The Send Items to table panel. Under Configuration are Destination with Select destination table..., Method set to Send row for each item in a list, List to flatten set to Similar companies with the path items, and Also send from this row with All columns (6 of 6) ticked. The footer says Destination table is required and shows Free and a greyed-out Add column and run 6 rows button.

What do the labels on each row mean?

Each row on the Import tab says where its rows land. The labels, as the app shows them:

  • Find people at these companies: New table · "People at these companies, in a linked table" · Free

  • Import CSV: Adds rows · "Upload a file" · Free

  • Webhook & API: Adds rows · "Receive rows from any tool" · Free

  • From Clay: Adds rows · "Send rows from a Clay table" · Free

Rows that give you a list in a column, such as Find people, Search people, Emails at a domain, Find people at company, New hires at company and Lookalike companies, are labelled List in a column.

Expand Google search results is labelled Adds rows and shows "~$0.036/row".
