Can I use my own boxes?

Storage by-the-box

Updated over 3 weeks ago

You can use your own boxes - we just ask that the boxes you choose are as sturdy as the ones we sell. They must be made of double-walled cardboard (not plastic) which means you should see at least two layers of zigzags when you look closely at the edge of the box. Alternatively, you may use suitcases to store your items. Hard-shell suitcases are suitable, but for soft-shell suitcases, it is recommended to place them inside sturdy cardboard boxes to ensure proper protection.

Prohibited Materials

  1. Plastic Bags: These include grocery-style carrier bags, bin bags, and other non-reinforced plastic bags that are prone to tearing and may result in item loss or damage.

  2. Laundry or Duffel Bags: These types of bags are not suitable for storage within this service. Items packed in such materials need to be transferred to approved boxes.

  3. Unsealed Bags or Containers: All storage materials must be sealed adequately to secure the items and prevent loss.

Please don’t risk damage to your stuff by using any old box. Never use boxes, like crisp boxes, which were originally intended for another purpose. Your box needs to be heavy-duty, so if it’s second-hand, it’s probably not suitable. LOVESPACE packing materials are double-walled and made of corrugated cardboard and are designed to handle up to 25kg of contents. You can see our full range of boxes and buy them here.
