Is there anything that I can't store?

Storage by-the-box

Updated over a year ago

If you’re using our by-the-box service, we’ll store just about anything. We’re the UK’s storage experts so we also know what we can’t accept. Here’s a list of stuff that you mustn’t send in.

  1. Food and perishable goods including sauces (e.g. soy sauce and ketchup);

  2. Any liquids or aerosols

  3. Plastic bags, plastic boxes, bin bags, canvas bags and laundry bags unless these are packed inside cardboard boxes;

  4. Suitcases not packed in our suitcase boxes;

  5. Musical instruments in soft cases;

  6. Ironing boards

  7. Clothes racks

  8. Bikes

  9. Knives and sharp objects not suitably sleeved and wrapped;

  10. Mirrors or large glass items;

  11. Birds, fish, animals or any other living creature;

  12. Explosives, weapons or ammunition;

  13. Any item which emits fumes, smell or odour;

  14. Any illegal substances or goods illegally obtained;

  15. Combustible or flammable materials, liquids or compressed gases, including but not limited to: paint, diesel, petrol, oil, gas, alcohol, artificial fertiliser or cleaning solvents;

  16. Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents;

  17. Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature;

  18. Any other toxic, flammable or hazardous substance or preparations, classified as such under applicable law;

  19. Tobacco;

  20. Passports, cash, credit or debit cards.

There are some things we may collect, but won’t cover. This means we don’t provide compensation coverage for them in the event of damage or loss. They include:

  • Fragile stuff, including crockery, glasses and mugs, unless they’re packed into our purpose-made LOVESPACE crockery boxes and thoroughly bubble-wrapped;

  • Electrical items;

  • Any item not packed inside a box.

You can find a full list of what we won’t cover here.
