Setting a Custom URL Slug
A URL slug is the part of the URL that comes after your domain. For example, in https://www.example.com/this-is-the-slug
, "this-is-the-slug" is the slug. With LPagery, you can set a custom slug for the generated pages.
What is a URL Slug?
The slug of a URL helps define the specific part of the URL that identifies a page on your website. By default, LPagery uses the title of your template page as the slug, but you have the flexibility to customize it using placeholders. This allows you to have URLs tailored to your specific needs.
Customize the URL Slug
By default, LPagery adds the template page's title as the slug, but you can customize it by adding placeholders. For example, entering "my-service-in-{city}"
in the URL slug field will generate URLs like:
www.your-domain.com/my-service-in-london/
In this case, {city}
will be replaced by the actual values from your source file. (In this case "london")
Adding a Parent Page Slug
If you assign a parent page, its slug will be automatically prepended to the generated pages. For example, if the parent page has the slug "services"
, the final URL would look like this:
www.your-domain.com/services/my-service-in-city/
Selecting the Page Status
LPagery gives you the option to set the status of the generated pages, with several options to choose from. Per default LPagery will use the page status of the template page:
Publish: The page will be live on your website and accessible to visitors.
Draft: The page will be saved but not published. This allows you to make changes before making the page public.
Private: Only logged-in users with the correct permissions can view this page.
Future: You can schedule the page to be published at a future date. This is useful for planning and timed releases of content.
Adding a Parent Page (Optional)
If you'd like the generated pages to be connected to a parent page, you can select the parent page from the dropdown. The parent page will be part of the URL structure and can help organize the hierarchy of pages.
Adding Categories (Optional)
You can assign categories to the generated pages from the dropdown. Categories help in organizing and grouping content on your website.
If you do not see the desired category in the dropdown, please refer to our Help Center article on Categories for troubleshooting steps.
Adding Tags (Optional)
Tags function similarly to categories but offer a more flexible way to label your content. You can add tags by typing them into the field and selecting the appropriate ones. This helps improve navigation and content organization across your site.
Additional Features in LPagery Pro
Some of the options described, such as adding parent pages or advanced customization of the URL slug, are available exclusively in the Pro version of LPagery.
