This article covers the day-to-day of working with Live Mode: creating a Live page set, changing it, editing one page, and switching existing sets. If you're new to Live Mode, start with What is Live Mode?.

Set up your pages as usual. In step 1. Settings of the create form, right below Page Status, you'll find Render Mode with two cards:

Classic is pre-selected on a fresh install. Pick Live, then continue with your source file and confirm as usual. Everything else about the run works the same in both modes: slug, status, parent page, taxonomies, Google Sheet Sync and background generation.

On plans below Extended the card shows the note Live Mode is an Extended plan feature. Clicking it opens the pricing page.

Live Mode currently renders templates built with Elementor or the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg). If your template uses another builder (Divi, WPBakery, Bricks, Breakdance, Oxygen, Brizy, SeedProd), the card says This template's page builder (…) isn't supported by Live Mode yet. Use Classic Mode for this template. Use Classic for that template.

If you keep Classic selected and your source file has more than 1,000 rows, the confirm step shows a Creating N pages? Consider Live Mode hint. You can dismiss it and continue with Classic.

In Settings, the Default render mode dropdown (Classic / Live (Beta)) decides which card is pre-selected on every new page set.

To change the design or content, edit the template page and save. Every page in the set shows the change on its next load. When you save the template, LPagery also purges the affected pages from WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache. For sets above 500 pages it purges the whole site cache instead. If you use another cache or a CDN with HTML caching, purge it yourself after saving.

To change the data (new rows, changed cells), run an Update or a Google Sheet Sync exactly as with Classic sets. The update flow hides the Update Look option for Live sets, because design changes already apply when you save the template. The remaining options update settings or content.

Open a Live Mode page in the WordPress editor and, instead of the editor, you'll see a short explanation with three buttons:

Edit Template opens the template page. Change it there and every page in the set follows.

Convert this page to Classic copies the current design and content onto this one page so you can edit it on its own. The rest of the set stays Live.

View page opens the rendered page.

Page-builder shortcuts like "Edit with Elementor" are removed from Live pages in the Pages list, because there is nothing on the page to edit. Quick Edit still works for the fields that live on the page: title, slug and status.

You don't have to decide at creation time. In Manage, the Mode column shows each set's current state:

Classic or Live means every page in the set is in that mode. Mixed means the set contains both, usually because a switch was interrupted.

The ≈ size under Classic and Mixed is an estimate of the database space you would free by switching the remaining Classic pages to Live. LPagery multiplies the template size by the number of Classic pages, so treat it as a rough figure.

Open the ⋯ menu on the set:

Switch to Live Mode (on a Classic set) strips every page down to a stub. The dialog warns you: Manual changes will be lost. Any edits made directly to these pages' content are discarded. Their titles, slugs and status are kept. Image copies made in Classic Mode stay in the media library, and the switched pages keep using them. The same page-builder rule applies as at creation: LPagery can't switch a set to Live if its template uses an unsupported builder.

Switch to Classic Mode (on a Live set) copies the current design and content onto each page, including real image copies. Each page becomes a normal, editable WordPress page.

A Mixed set offers both: Finish switch to Live Mode converts only the pages still in Classic, and Switch to Classic Mode brings everything back.

Both directions offer Switch in background. It runs on the server, so you can close the tab and follow the run in Manage. See Generate pages in the background. You can safely re-run a switch: LPagery only touches the pages that still need converting.

LPagery renders Live pages, so they need the plugin active. If you deactivate it, the plugins screen warns you first:

Reactivating restores the pages as they were. If you're removing LPagery for good, run Switch to Classic Mode on every Live set first.

Either your plan is below Extended (the card says Live Mode is an Extended plan feature.), or the selected template uses a page builder Live Mode doesn't support yet. Live Mode currently supports Elementor and the block editor. Use Classic Mode for other builders.

That's expected for Live pages. Click Edit Template to change the design for the whole set, or Convert this page to Classic to edit this one page on its own.

Search matches Live pages by title and excerpt only, because the body text isn't stored on the page. Put the terms you need searchable in the title or excerpt, or use Classic Mode for that set.

A switch didn't finish, for example because the tab was closed during a browser run. Open ⋯ → Finish switch to Live Mode or Switch to Classic Mode. Both only process the pages that still need converting.

LPagery purges WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache automatically when you save the template. If you use a different cache or a CDN with HTML caching, purge it manually after saving the template.
