Step 4: Line Items

Completing all the necessary line item information related to your shipment.

Line Item Page

  1. To choose an existing item click on the Search drop down menu.. Type or Click an Item.

  2. The Handling Unit Information and Linear Feet * will Auto-Populate.

  3. To add an item click Add Line Item.

  4. For a new item, under Handling Unit Information, click the Package Type* drop down menu. Type or select a Package Type*.

  5. Enter the H/U Count*. H/U or Handling Units equals the number of Package Types i.e. Pallets in a shipment.

  6. Enter the Total Weight*.

    1. You can specify weight by handling unit by turning on the Individual H/U Weight toggle.

    2. To specify a multi class handling unit containing different items, turn on the MultiClass H/U toggle.

      1. Click +Add Item to include the additional item in the same handling unit.

  7. Enter the Length*, Width*, and Height* for the handling unit.

  8. The Item Information Description* can be whatever you like but it should be brief and concise.

  9. Select the correct Freight Class* from the drop down menu.

  10. Enter the Total pieces on the Handling Unit. The Piece Count equals the number of items loaded onto each H/U (i.e. pallets).

    1. Example:

      H/U (i.e. pallets) = 4

      Total Piece Count = 8 (2 boxes on each H/U (i.e. pallet)

  11. Click Get Rates to complete Line Items page.

NOTE: For FedEx Shipments the default is Do Not Stack. Stacked shipments need to be Stacked, Wrapped and ready to load before the Scheduled Pickup.

NOTE: The NMFC and Subclass Codes are NOT Required for MOST shipments in LTL Select unless it is Hazmat. Please contact the carrier directly to obtain the NMFC and Subclass Codes or refer to the following article from FedEx - Freight Class and Density Calculator.

NOTE: To delete an item click the Trashcan.
