To point your domain to your LumaDock VPS, you need to update DNS settings at your domain registrar. These settings tell the internet where to route traffic when someone visits your domain.

Log in to your domain registrar

Sign in to the provider where your domain is registered, such as Namecheap, GoDaddy, or Google Domains.

Open the DNS or Nameservers section for your domain.

Choose how you want to manage DNS

You can manage DNS in one of two ways:

  • Use LumaDock nameservers

  • Use your registrar’s DNS and add A records

Choose whichever method fits your setup.

Option 1 — Point your domain to LumaDock DNS

If you want to use LumaDock DNS management, set these nameservers at your registrar:

ns1.lumadock.com ns2.lumadock.com

(Use the exact nameservers shown in your LumaDock DNS dashboard.)

Example (Namecheap)

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Namecheap

  2. Open Domain List → Manage

  3. Go to Nameservers

  4. Select Custom DNS

  5. Enter:

    • ns1.lumadock.com

    • ns2.lumadock.com

  6. Save your changes

Option 2 — Use your registrar’s DNS

If you prefer not to change nameservers, you can leave the defaults and add A records pointing to your VPS IP.

  • A Record: @ → your VPS IP

  • A Record: www → your VPS IP (optional)

This makes both your main domain and www subdomain point to your VPS.

DNS propagation time

DNS updates may take up to 24–48 hours to fully update worldwide, though many changes apply sooner.
