Comfortably holding your phone can be tricky at first. Here are 5 tried & tested methods, loved by our community:

On a chair, elbow supported

Sit on a chair, using the arm rests to support your elbows.

At a table

Place your phone on the table; cross your arms & cover the phone, trying to create a dark space.

Resting against the legs

Sit on the floor with your back against a wall, and use your bent legs as a rest for your arms to lean against. Feel free to try this position in a chair too, if available.

Lying in bed

Lie down on your bed facing sideways, with your phone resting against a pillow (or secured by your hand).

Reclined in bed, or on a sofa

Lie on your back, in bed or on a sofa, resting your phone against your chest (or a pillow).

Feel free to experiment! From phone clamps to modified cardboard boxes, there are many unique and inventive ways you can enjoy using Lumenate. For more great suggestions, join our Facebook Community where creative ideas on how to best use the app are a regular discussion.

Once you’ve found a comfortable position, hold your phone a few inches in front of your face. Due to differences in phone hardware and eye sensitivity, it’s hard to say how close (though the most intense experiences have been reported at around 5-10 cm in front of your eyes). We recommend that you regularly try adjusting, moving the phone forwards and backwards until you find what works best for you.
