Add Knowledge to Your AI Knowledge Library

Four ways to add answers your AI agents can use, crawl a website, upload a document, paste text, or write Q&A pairs — plus how the AI Knowledge Library is organized.

Your AI Knowledge Library is every answer your AI agents can use, organized into knowledge bases. This guide shows how the Library is laid out and the four ways to add knowledge to it.

The Library at a glance

Open AI Teams › AI Knowledge and select AI Knowledge (next to Teams). The page has two views:

  • Library — everything your agents currently know.

  • Recommendations — AI-suggested knowledge gaps that arrive pre-answered for you to review and approve.

Down the left is the Knowledge Bases list — the core bases every organization needs (Admissions & Enrollment, Programs & Curriculum, Pricing & Tuition, Financial Aid & Payment Plans, Schedule & Start Dates, Campus/Location & Hours, Policies & Requirements, Careers & Outcomes, General) plus any you add with the +. Every answer lives in exactly one knowledge base.

Across the top, tabs split the content into All, Q&A pairs, and Raw sources, and a filter box lets you search your answers (try "pricing" or "hours"). Each entry shows its question, the answer, which knowledge base it's filed under, and when it was last updated — and you can edit or re-file it. The agents that draw on this knowledge (Mia and your other agents) are shown on the right.

Add knowledge — four ways

Click + Add knowledge and choose one of the following.

1. Add a website

Websites always become Q&A. Lumion crawls the pages on the domain and distills what it finds into question-and-answer pairs you can read, edit, and re-file before they go live.

Set Add to (the knowledge base), enter the Website URL, optionally give it a Name (shown on the sources list; defaults to the URL), and click Start crawl. The entire domain is crawled, preprocessed, and turned into Q&A automatically.

2. Upload a document

Choose the knowledge base, give it a Name, and drag & drop or browse for a file — PDF, DOCX, TXT, or CSV, up to 25 MB. Then pick how it's stored:

  • Distill into Q&A (recommended) — Lumion reads the document and turns it into editable question-and-answer pairs you review before they go live. Takes a few minutes, and lands in the Q&A pairs tab once you approve the generated pairs.

  • Keep original document — stored and searched as-is under Raw sources, with no conversion step, ready right away. Best for handbooks and long reference documents.

Click Upload when you're set.

3. Add text

Pasted text is kept as-is in the Raw sources tab — useful for scripts, notes, and copy that doesn't need Q&A review. Choose the knowledge base, add a Name and the Content, and click Add.

4. Add Q&A pairs

Write the exact Question and Answer — no conversion and no review queue; Lumion auto-files each pair into the right knowledge base. Use Add another pair to enter several at once, then click Add.

Q&A pairs vs. Raw sources

The difference is whether the content is converted. Q&A pairs are reviewable question-and-answer entries — what you get from websites, documents distilled into Q&A, or pairs you write by hand. Raw sources are stored as-is with no conversion (uploaded documents you keep original, or pasted text), ready to search right away.
