Preview a Student's Portal from Their Contact (View Student Portal)

See a student's portal exactly as they see it, right from their contact record — open View Student Portal, click between their tabs, and troubleshoot from what's actually on their screen.

You can now see a student's portal exactly as the student sees it, right from their contact record. Open View Student Portal on any contact and you're looking at the same pages they're looking at so when a student calls and says "I don't see it," you can check their screen instead of guessing.

Who: Staff with access to contacts · Where: Contacts › open a contact › View Student Portal

Open the preview

Go to Contacts and open the student. In the action bar at the top right of their contact, click View Student Portal.

The portal opens in a window on top of the contact, so you never leave the contact record and you don't need the student's password or a login link.

What you'll see

This is the student's real portal with their real data, not a sample. You can click freely between their tabs:

Home — what's waiting for them, their enrollment applications and payment applications
Payments — their plan, balance, and payment history
Tasks — any steps still open for them to complete
Benefits — the benefits available to them

The preview is read-only

A banner across the top reminds you that you're viewing the portal as that student and that actions are disabled. You can look at every page and move between tabs, but you can't submit anything, make a payment, upload a document, or send a message as the student. Nothing you do in the preview changes their record.

When this helps

• A student says a task, document, or statement isn't showing up — confirm whether it's actually there
• Check that a payment plan, invoice, or welcome letter reached their portal
• Walk a student through their portal over the phone while you're both on the same page
• See what a brand-new student will land on before you tell them to log in
• Train new staff on the student experience without creating a fake student

Tips

If something looks wrong to the student but right in the preview, the issue is usually the account they're logged into — check the email address on their contact. And if a task or document isn't in the preview either, it hasn't been assigned or filed yet, so fix it from the contact and re-open the preview to confirm.
