Student Portal: What's New

The new Student Portal: five tabs covering your full enrollment journey — Home, Tasks, Payment, Education, Documents.

Your Student Portal got a major upgrade. The new version gives you a clear view of where you are in your enrollment journey, what you need to do next, and everything related to your payments and documents — all in one place, designed to work on your phone.

This guide walks through what's new and how to use each section.

New in the portal (August 2026)

The portal added three new pages and a rebuilt payments experience.

  • My Courses — your class schedule and sessions, with the option to reveal past ones.

  • My Agreements — every agreement you've accepted, with the date and full text.

  • My Applications — all of your applications, not just the most recent. You can cancel an application you haven't finished, follow your school's outside-lender offer straight from the portal, and still open the contract terms for an application that was dropped.

  • A rebuilt Payments page — one clear box naming exactly what to pay next (a catch-up balance, an overdue invoice, a payoff amount, or your next scheduled payment) with the Pay button right there and a Catch up now option that pre-fills everything overdue. A single banner above it handles the one thing actually blocking payment (no card on file, a card that can't be charged, or a failed draft, quoting the bank's reason).

  • A plan progress card — payments made out of the total, the balance remaining, the plan total, and the next few payments, plus an on-time streak badge; cash and check payments your school recorded count toward it too.

  • Everything you owe in one place — a bell in the header lists overdue invoices, overdue plan payments, an upcoming payment, open tasks, and documents needing a signature, and the header Pay now button draws on the same figures.

  • Faster confirmations — payments confirm right away with the amount and reference number while the charge finishes in the background.

  • Accurate early-payoff savings — paying extra to finish sooner now recalculates the remaining schedule against your reduced balance, so you get the interest savings shown.

What changed

  • Tasks is new — a dedicated page showing every step of your enrollment journey in order, with clear status on what's done, what's next, and what needs your attention

  • Attention is new — a dedicated hub for anything that needs action from you right now (overdue payments, open enrollment steps)

  • Benefits is new — referrals, student discounts, and partner programs

  • Payments is more detailed — separate pages for your current balance/schedule and your payment history

  • Education has more depth — full attendance stats, your Attendance PIN, session history, and export

  • Documents is redesigned — inline upload, clearer status on each document, and your uploaded files stay permanently on your account even if you leave a program

  • Mobile-first design — the whole portal is built for phones, not adapted for them

  • Mia is always one tap away — the AI assistant is accessible from every page via the help icon

The pages

Home — your at-a-glance dashboard. Anything urgent (overdue payments, open enrollment steps) surfaces in the red Attention banner at the top. Below that: your current enrollment step, your next payment due, your overall progress, and upcoming class sessions.

Tasks — every step in your enrollment journey, in order. Each stage shows whether it's completed, current, or locked. Your current stage has a clear call-to-action — click it to take the next step (make a payment, upload a document, or book an appointment). When you complete one step, the next becomes available.

Payments — your full payment picture: next payment due, remaining balance, payment progress, AutoPay setup, payment methods, and your payment applications. What you see here adapts to your payment type — payment plan, ISA, invoices, or deposit.

Documents — every document associated with your enrollment: awaiting your signature, signed, available to download, missing (your school is waiting for you to upload something), or in review. Your uploaded files stay on your account permanently — even if you leave or withdraw from a program, you can still come back and download anything you uploaded.

Education — your attendance stats, upcoming sessions, Attendance PIN, and full attendance history (exportable as PDF or CSV). This page only appears if your school uses Lumion for attendance tracking.

Benefits — the refer-a-friend program and any student discount partners your school has set up (SheerID, UNiDAYS, Student Beans).

Attention — a full-page view of everything that needs your action: overdue payments and open enrollment steps. Linked from the Home banner when something needs you.

Your Tasks page explained

The Tasks page shows your progress through the stages your school has set up for your enrollment. Think of it like a checklist of milestones — your school controls what appears here and in what order.

Each stage has a status:

Status

What it means

Completed

Done — green check

Current

Your active step — highlighted with a button to take action

Locked

A future step — becomes available when you complete the current one

Your current stage will have a specific action to take — one of:

  • Pay an invoice — make a required payment

  • Upload a document — submit something your school needs from you

  • Book an appointment — schedule a meeting with your advisor

When you complete the action, your school's system can automatically move you to the next stage — you don't have to do anything else.

You may also receive a text or email with a link that takes you directly to a specific step. Those links are valid for about 14 days.

Note: The Tasks page shows your enrollment journey stages — it's not a general to-do list. If you're looking for something and don't see it here, check the Attention page or contact your school directly.

Payments in detail

The Payments page adapts based on how your school has set up your tuition agreement. Here's what you might see:

Next Payment Due — the amount coming up and when it's due. Goes red if overdue.

Remaining Balance — how much you still owe in total.

Payment Progress — a visual bar showing how far along you are.

Payment Schedule — your full period-by-period schedule with status on each. Not shown for income-share agreements (ISAs) since those don't have fixed installments.

AutoPay — turn this on to have payments process automatically on their due dates. Strongly recommended so you never miss one.

Pay Now — make a one-time payment. You'll see a breakdown of the amount, any interest, and any card processing fee before you confirm.

Payment Methods — add, edit, or remove your saved bank accounts and cards.

Payment Applications — view and manage your financing applications.

To add a payment method before paying: you'll need to add a card or bank account first, then come back to make a payment or set up AutoPay.

For income-share agreements (ISAs) that require income reporting, you'll see a Report Income button instead of the standard payment flow.

The help icon

The ? icon in the top-right of every page opens Mia, Lumion's AI assistant. Ask her anything:

  • "When is my next payment?"

  • "What do I need to do next?"

  • "How do I upload a document?"

Mia uses your actual account data to answer. If she can't help, she'll connect you to your school directly.

The help panel also shows your school's contact information and, if you pay through Lumion, the Lumion billing support contact.

FAQs

Why don't I see a Payments page?
Your school doesn't use Lumion for payments. Your tuition is handled directly by your school.

Why don't I see an Education page?
Your school doesn't use Lumion for attendance tracking, or you're in a program that doesn't track hours.

Why don't I see a specific stage on my Tasks page?
Your school controls which stages are visible to students. Not every stage in your enrollment process may appear here — some are internal steps your school manages on their end.

Can I complete a different payment or upload a different document to satisfy a task?
No — each task is tied to a specific action your school configured. Completing a similar action won't satisfy a different stage. For example, if the task is to pay a specific invoice, paying a different invoice won't move you forward.

My link from a text message isn't working.
Stage action links are valid for about 14 days. If yours expired, log into your portal directly and take the action from the Tasks page, or contact your school to have the link resent.

Can I access the portal after graduating?
Yes — your account stays active and you can log in to download documents, transcripts, and attendance records.

Does this work on my phone?
Yes — the portal is designed mobile-first. Most students use it from their phone.

I uploaded a document but it disappeared.
Your uploaded files are permanently saved to your account. Check the Documents page and look in the "Previously Uploaded" section at the bottom — everything you've ever uploaded is there, even from past or withdrawn programs.

Where do I find my agreements and past applications?
They now have their own pages — My Agreements lists every agreement you've accepted with its full text, and My Applications shows all of your applications (not just the most recent). You can also cancel an unfinished application from there.

When to ask for help

  1. Tap the ? icon and ask Mia — she can answer most questions instantly using your actual account data

  2. If Mia can't help, she'll route you to your school's contact information

  3. For urgent issues, use your school's phone or email from the help panel

For school admins — how V2 is enabled

Student Portal V2 is enabled per institution by Lumion. When it's turned on, all students at that institution are automatically redirected from the old portal to the new one. There's no per-student rollout — it's all-or-nothing per school.

For the Tasks page to show anything, your school needs at least one active Customer Journey with stages that have student visibility enabled. The stage actions students can take are: Pay Invoice, Upload Document, and Schedule Appointment.
