Details about the properties and metrics in Klaviyo

There are two types of data that gets synced to Klaviyo from easyPoints: properties and metrics. These are two different kinds of data and each type is explained more below.


Properties

Properties are little pieces of adaptive data that you can attach to profiles or pre-fill in emails. These pieces of data then update to be specific to the attached profile (email recipient/customer). Think of them as dynamic characteristics that can help you define a profile to better segment and sort.

Properties created by easyPoints are:

Point Information Properties

Point Balance

$easypoints_point_balance

The customer’s point balance in easyPoints.

Point Expiration

$easypoints_points_expiration

The date and time at which the customer’s points will expire.

Reward Point Properties

Sign Up

$easypoints_reward_signup_points

This property displays the number of points a customer can earn for creating an account on your shop.

Birthday

$easypoints_reward_birthday_points

This property displays the number of points a customer can earn for their birthday.

Marketing Opt-In

$easypoints_reward_marketing_opt_in_points

This property displays the number of points a customer can earn when they sign up for your newsletter.

Reviews

$easypoints_reward_review

This property displays the number of points a customer can earn for writing a review.

Referrals

$easypoints_reward_referral

This property displays the number of points a customer can earn for successful referrals.

*Reward Point Properties will not display in your Klaviyo properties list if you do not have subscription access to the relevant Reward.

Tier Properties

Current Tier Name

$easypoints_tier_current_tier_name

The customer’s current tier name.

Advancement Deadline

$easypoints_tier_advancement_deadline

The cutoff date for unlocking the customer’s next tier.

Advancement Requirement

$easypoints_tier_advancement_requirement

The required spend for the customer to unlock the next tier.

Advancement Tier Name

$easypoints_tier_advancement_tier_name

The next tier rank available for the customer to unlock.

Maintenance Deadline

$easypoints_tier_maintenance_deadline

The cutoff date for maintaining the customer’s current tier.

Maintenance Requirement

$easypoints_tier_maintenance_requirement`

The required spend for the customer to maintain their current tier.

IMPORTANT: Tier Advancement and Tier Maintenance values can’t be displayed simultaneously. Tier maintenance properties will only populate if the customer still needs to maintain their tier; likewise, tier advancement properties will only display if the customer has met the maintenance requirements and is now able to unlock further tiers. If a property is inserted that is not applicable to a profile, the property will not display any data and will be blank.

Metrics

Metrics measures a specific event/action — while it usually refers to actions or behaviors of customers, it can be any type of event. Metrics can be further filtered with specific properties to the metric.

easyPoints is able to sync two kinds of metrics currently:

  1. Credited Points

  2. Tier Status Update

Credited Points

This is when a customer has points added to or deducted from their point balance, excluding point redemption by the customer.

This metric consists of two properties:

A. $type

The type of point allotment that has triggered this metric. Options for this property are:

B. $point_value

The amount of points allotted to the customer.

How can you use these properties with the Credited Points metric? You can create specific email blasts based on the point allotment type — for example, you could send a happy birthday email when a customer is credited Birthday Reward points.

Tier Status Update

This is when a customer’s tier status has been updated (does not mean the same as changed). This metric only has one property.

$tier_changed?

This property is a true or false statement. This indicates whether the customer’s tier has changed from their previous tier. It does not indicate whether the tier increased or decreased.

How can you use these properties with the metric?

You can target customers whose tier did not change, although you should proceed with caution as you cannot differentiate whether someone’s tier has gone up/down which generally warrants very different messaging.

Can I check if the properties have been populated?

Once easyPoints and Klaviyo have been successfully connected, you will be able to find a customer’s properties (including their easyPoints properties) on their Klaviyo profile under “Information."
