About Expiration Rules

Configure when point expire

Updated over a month ago

The expiration rules for the points can be configured in the point section in the easyPoints app.

The points will expire once an amount of time has passes without any activity.

The expiration dates are customizable for stores.

Screen

Delay

Set how long the system waits before expiring the customer's points. The period will be counted from the customer's last action including order creation, earning rewards other than birthdays, and be given points through the API.

The point balance will be set to 0 when an expiration happens.

If there is an non-active allotment (birthday rewards, manual allotments) after the final action, expiration will not deduct the points that were given as the non-active allotment until it reached the expiration period counted from it's allotment.

Example 1)
Expiration: 12 months
1/1/2023 Earns 1,000 points through order. Expiration: 1/1/2024
1/2/2023 Manually gives 500 points without extending the expiration Expiration: 1/1/2024
1/1/2024 1,000 points expire, 500 remains

The points earned through an order will expire after a year, but the 500 points given as a non-active allotment will stay after the expiration. After the 1,000 points expire, the expiration date for the remaining points will be 1/2/2024.

Example 2)
Expiration: 12 months
1/1/2023 earns 500 points as birthday rewards. Expiration: 1/1/2024
1/2/2023 Earns 1,000 points through an order. Expiration: 1/2/2024
1/2/2024 1,500 points expire

In this case, the expiration is extended for the total balance on 1/2/2023.

Delay

You can set the time that the points expire based on when the customer was last active. If the customers do not receive any points excluding the birthday rewards during this period, their points will expire.

Frequency

You can set the frequency of the expiration choosing from daily, monthly and, yearly.

They will expire with the following conditions.

Daily: at 12 a.m. one day after the delay period is over.

Monthly: at 12 a.m. on the first day of the month after the delay period is over.

Yearly: at 12 a.m. on January 1st the year after the delay period is over.

*The expiration time will be automatically adjusted to the store timezone.

The expiration dates for points on easyPoints are managed collectively.

The extension of an expiration date and the date of expiration will affect all of the points so, please be aware.

*The expiration time will be automatically adjusted to the store timezone.

*If the expiration delay is edited after order creation, all expiration dates will be updated at that moment, and expiration will get checked at the next point set by the frequency.

*Point balance and expiration is managed together in general, but please be aware that non-active allotments (birthday rewards and manual allotments) will be treated differently. (refer to the examples above for more information.)
