Help Queue: See Which Students Need Support in Real Time

The Help Queue helps teachers quickly identify which students need assistance during assignments and activities.

Students can:

  • raise their hand to request teacher support

  • ask Lava for a hint before requesting help

Teachers can:

  • see help requests in real time

  • jump directly into student work

  • provide immediate support and feedback


Where to Find the Help Queue

The Help Queue is located in the top-right corner of the Assignment tab.

Look for the raised hand icon.

When students request help, a red notification badge will appear on the icon showing how many students are currently waiting for assistance.

How the Help Queue Works

Click the Help Queue icon to view:

  • which students are requesting help

  • the assignment they are working on

  • the specific problem they need help with

Responding to a Student

Click Show next to a student’s name to jump directly to their work.

From there, you can:

  • view submitted answers and work

  • monitor student thinking in real time

  • provide guidance and feedback immediately

Student Experience

When students need support during an assignment, they can:

  1. Open the Help Queue

  2. Request help from their teacher

  3. Optionally ask Lava for a hint before submitting a help request

Students will see confirmation on their screen once a help request has been sent.

Using Lava Hints

Before requesting teacher support, students can click to ask Lava for a hint.

Lava provides students with guidance designed to support problem-solving without giving away the full answer.
