Log In to Magma Math
Go to the Magma Math sign-in page.
Depending on your school or district setup, you may access Magma through:
Clever
ClassLink
Google
Microsoft
Canvas
Schoology
If your school or district uses an integrated rostering system, your classes and students may already be available when you log in.
Access Your Classes
Open the Classes tab to view your classes. If your school or district uses Clever, ClassLink, Canvas, or Schoology, classes may be automatically synced to Magma.
If you do not see an expected class or student, contact your school or district administrator or reach out to Magma Support.Create a Class Manually
Create a Class Manually
If your school does not automatically roster classes:
Open the Classes tab.
Click New Class +.
Enter the class name and grade level.
Click Create.
Magma will generate a class code that students can use to join.
Create Your First Assignment
Open the Assignments tab.
Click New Assignment.
Browse Magma's content and select the problems you want to include.
Choose the classes, groups, or students who should receive the assignment.
Adjust the assignment settings.
Enter an assignment name.
Click Create.
You can edit or manage an assignment later using the three dots (⋮) next to the assignment.
Start a Lesson
After creating an assignment, you can use Start Lesson to guide your class through the full lesson in Magma.
Open the assignment.
Click Start Lesson in the top-right corner.
Introduce the lesson and review the Key Vocabulary.
Work through an Example Problem together.
Select a timer and click Start Solving.
Use Live Activity to monitor progress and address common errors.
Move to Wrap-up to discuss student strategies and important takeaways.
Click End Lesson or create follow-up assignments.
During the lesson, you can switch to Teacher View to review the full Heatmap and then return to Classroom View to continue presenting the lesson to students.

Monitor Student Work
Click an assignment to open the Heatmap.
The Heatmap gives you a live view of student progress and makes it easy to identify patterns across the class.
From the Heatmap, you can:
see which students have submitted responses
review student answers and written work
compare strategies across the class
identify common misconceptions
open individual student solutions
provide feedback
Click a problem number to compare student responses to the same problem, or click a student's name to review their work across the assignment.

🟩 Green | Correct on the first try |
🟨 Yellow | Correct after multiple attempts |
🟥 Red | Incorrect answer |
👁 Eye icon | Student viewed the answer |
⬜ Grey | No answer submitted yet |
