New Tab – Instructions👩🏫
Teachers can now quickly see which problems in an assignments that tends to be the most challenging and what mistakes pupils most often make. For each assigment, the three most difficult problems are highlighted, along with examples of student solutions and explanations with suggestions on how to address the mistakes in the classroom. A smart support tool to help students avoid common misunderstandings.
Heatmap + Statistics Wheel = Statistics 📊
We’ve made it easier to follow students’ progress! The Heatmap and Statistics Wheel tabs have now been combined into a single Statistics tab. From here, you can recommend areas to students, and the associated practice cards will automatically be sent to them. Simply open an assignment, go to the Statistics tab, and click on the areas you wish to recommend.
Error Highlighting – now for teachers too🙌
Understanding where students first went wrong is now even easier. The new Show Error feature automatically highlights the part of the working area where the student made their first mistake. As a teacher, you can click the Show Error button to reveal the exact point the error occurred, and click again to remove it. A quick, clear way to give even better feedback.
Updated keyboard experience🎛️
Writing in Magma just became simpler! We’ve replaced the different keyboards with one smart, unified keyboard that works everywhere-whether the pupil is typing in the answer box, in fields or on the canvas. The keyboard automatically adapts to the type of problem - for example, showing only numbers for simpler problems and more symbols for algebra or advanced maths. All to make writing faster and less confusing.
Discussion questions in the task view💬
Leading engaging classroom discussions just got easier! Magma can now generate discussion prompts based on students’ solutions for a given task.
By clicking Generate in the task view, you’ll receive suggestions on what to discuss together — such as different solution strategies or common misconceptions. A quick, smooth way to deepen learning and make maths more interactive.
Personalised book list📕
When you log in for the first time, you can personalise your booklist by answering two quick questions:
📚 Which year groups do you teach?
📖 Which textbook series do you use?
Magma will then add the relevant books for your year group. If your book series is missing, just let us know — we’ll work on getting it added to Magma.
