Settings & Troubleshooting

Configuring your Maitre'D Virtuo workstation and accessing diagnostic tools.

⚙️ Accessing Settings

From the left navigation bar, scroll to the bottom and tap Settings. This opens the Configuration screen, which is divided into seven tabs: Authentication, Printer, Payment, Language, Customize, POS Status, and Advanced. Use the Save button at the bottom-left to apply any changes you make.

🔑 Authentication

Authentication settings tab

The Authentication tab identifies your workstation to the Maitre'D system. The fields here are pre-configured by your system administrator and typically do not need to be changed.

Field

Description

Branch code

A unique identifier for your organization, generated when your account is created in the back office.

Company code

A unique identifier for your specific location, generated when your location is set up in the back office.

POS Identification Number

A unique number for this workstation. Tap Modify to change it if needed.

Enable MD Cloud Service

Toggle that allows the workstation to communicate with the remote POS server. Should remain enabled in normal operation.

MD Cloud Service URL

The address of the Maitre'D Cloud Service running on the same computer (e.g. https://localhost:9060).

🖨️ Printer Configuration

Printer configuration tab

The Printer tab controls all printing behaviour for this workstation, including receipt printing, kitchen ticket printing, and paper column widths.

Enable receipt print — Toggle this on to enable automatic printing of client receipts. Make sure a compatible receipt printer is connected and selected as the Main Workstation Printer.

Main Workstation Printer — Select the printer used for client receipts at this workstation. All configured printers for your location are listed here. Use Print Test to verify connectivity.

Kitchen Printers — Lists all printers (& KDS screens) assigned to a printing group for this workstation. Use the Kitchen Printing toggle to enable or disable kitchen printing globally. Each printer shows its IP address and assigned printing group. Use Print Test next to each entry to confirm it is reachable on the network.

Receipt Configuration — Sets the receipt width in columns. If you are unsure of the correct value, tap Print the column indicators to print a test page that shows column markers, then count the columns on the first row.

Kitchen Tickets Configuration — Sets the ticket width in columns for kitchen printers. Check your printer specifications to find the supported column count for your model.

💳 Payment

Payment configuration tab

The Payment tab configures how the workstation handles electronic payments and controls the cash drawer.

Activate payments by terminal — Toggle to enable card payment processing. When active, select your terminal type from the list (e.g. PayFacto SP). When deactivated, only cash payments are available.

Cash Drawer Configuration — Connects the cash drawer to the workstation's main printer. Try each of the numbered options (Option #1 through Option #5) and tap Open Cash Drawer to find the command that successfully opens your drawer. Once found, save your configuration.

🌐 Language

Language configuration tab

Select the display language for the entire workstation interface. Three options are available: English, Français, and Español. The selected language applies immediately after saving. All menus, labels, and prompts will switch to the chosen language.

🎨 Customize

Customize tab

The Customize tab controls the visual appearance and interaction behaviour of the POS interface.

Option

Description

Display product images

Show product images (including modifiers) on menu items. Turn off to show text-only menus for faster navigation.

Display category images

Show images on menu category tiles.

Dark theme

Switch the interface to a dark colour scheme. Recommended for low-light environments.

Quick add

Allows skipping the item detail page when an item has no customization options, adding it directly to the order. Product suggestions are unavailable when Quick add is enabled.

Animations

Enable UI animations for a smoother visual experience. Disable to improve performance on older hardware.

Screen resolution

Set the resolution best suited for this workstation's display (e.g. 1366×768).

📡 POS Status

POS Status tab showing version info

The POS Status tab shows the current software versions running on this workstation and alerts you when updates are available.

The main POS application you interact with. An orange "Version X.X.XX available!" badge appears when an update is ready.

Hub Service

A background service used for more complex operations. Also shows an update badge when a newer version is available.

The current Environment (e.g. Development or Production) is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Contact your system administrator to apply available updates.

🔩 Advanced

Advanced configuration tab

The Advanced tab contains operational parameters that affect order numbering, session behaviour, and a special training mode. These settings are typically configured once during setup.

Setting

Description

Minimum generated order number

The starting number assigned to new orders on this terminal. When the maximum is reached, the counter resets to this value.

Maximum generated order number

The highest order number before the counter resets.

Printed order history limit

How many past orders appear in the history panel of the POS dashboard.

Inactivity delay

Number of seconds before the POS enters inactivity mode. A warning message is displayed 30 seconds before the session ends.

Workstation data refresh delay

Interval in minutes at which the POS synchronizes its data with the server. Use Force refresh to sync immediately.

Training mode — Enabling this toggle lets you and your team practice using the POS without affecting real reporting or sales figures. Transactions recorded in training mode are only visible while it is active and only appear in training reports.

💾 Saving Changes

After making any changes on any tab, tap the orange Save button at the bottom-left of the Configuration screen. A confirmation toast will briefly appear at the bottom of the screen to confirm the configuration has been saved.

Changing settings such as the POS Identification Number, Branch code, or MD Cloud Service URL incorrectly can prevent the workstation from connecting. Only modify these fields if instructed by your system administrator.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Tap Troubleshooting at the bottom of the side nav to access diagnostic and connectivity tools. These tools are designed to help identify and resolve common workstation issues such as network connectivity problems, printer communication failures, or KDS sync issues.

If you encounter persistent errors (e.g. repeated printer error toasts), navigate to Troubleshooting first to run a connectivity check before contacting support.

⚠️ Common Printer Error

The error toast "Error while printing. Please validate the status of your printer." appears when a print job fails. Steps to resolve:

  1. Check that the printer is powered on and has paper loaded.

  2. Use Print Test on the affected printer in Settings → Printer to check connectivity.

  3. Ensure the printer is on the network and not in an error state (paper jam, paper out, etc.).

  4. If the issue persists, navigate to Troubleshooting for deeper diagnostics or contact your system administrator.
