October 17, 2023 — System Update
Admin>Reports>Bidder Registrations. Quickly view a list or chart view of bidder registrations by Month and Year. Includes cumulative totals and % changes. If you click on a number, it will display the daily breakdown of registrations in that month.
Admin>Auction>Add/Edit Auction>Time Zone conversion for Start & End Date. When adding or editing an auction, there is a new real time preview that will display the start or end date that you've entered in your local/computer's time zone.
Public>Auction>Bid History of Item. An issue was fixed on some mobile devices where the bid history columns were cut off from view. To address this, we have re-arranged the columns to make the bidder#, amount of bid, current bid, and winning bidder are shown first...and then the bid received date and bid# shown at the end.
Admin>GoToAdmin>Roles & Permissions>User Notes>Delete. There is now a User level permission to be able to DELETE existing Notes (bidder profile notes).
Public>New Bidder Registration>Driver's License Number. For clients who have the driver's license number required (Admin>Configurations>Bidder Registration Configuration), we have changed the language displayed to the bidders from 'DL Number' to 'Drivers License Number' and 'Drivers License State'
Bug Fixes:
There was an issue where in the 'ITEM NAME' if the admin/user added the special character of ( ' ), it was causing a javascript issue and the item was not able to be bid on. This has been fixed now.
There was a rounding issue where the admin would record a payment in full for an invoice, but the invoice was still showing 'Partial Paid'. This has been fixed moving forward.
Language change in the confirmation box when a bidder removes an item from their watchlist
Incoming updates at the end of October. There are 4 additional updates being released shortly that we are spending a little extra time testing out before releasing:
Forced Increments option. This will round down the bid amounts to meet the increments. Very useful to keep the bid amounts in whole numbers and drop penny bids.
Consignor fees: Cumulative sliding scale option. For example:
35% on first $500, 25% on an amounts more than $500 and less than or equal to $1000, 20% on any amounts more than $1,000 and less than or equal to $2,000 and 15% on any amounts over $2,000.
Max bid custom increment. There is a small issue with max bid amounts and custom increment levels that is being addressed.
Hidden Google Captcha. In order to keep bots/web crawlers off your site which could potentially slow down system performance during an auction, we are implementing a hidden google captcha function to the public auction & admin pages.
August 29, 2023 — System Update
Public>Auction level watchlist & Bidder watchlist - the display of watchlist items will now stay in their original order when they are in auto-extended bidding
Public>Calendar>Search - partial keyword search has now been updated. Example: Search for 'cool' will return cooler, coolers, cooling, etc.
Admin>Auction>Invoices>Pull Report - new signature and date lines have been added to the bottom of the Pull Report
Admin>Auction>Images - new orange colored Group Actions button added which will allow for selection of multiple images and the ability to group/bulk delete those selected images
Admin>Auction>Invoices - new 'Bulk Actions' button added. The new bulk actions button allows the admin to quickly Email All, Approve All, or Add Fees to all of the invoices. This feature was added for clients who were experiencing system performance issues with auctions that had a large number of invoices and will allow the admin to bypass the step of 'selecting' the invoices to apply these actions to.
Admin>Auction>Items>Bids>Group Actions>Delete Bids. A new 'Select All' checkbox has been added allowing the admin to select all of the bids quickly, rather than having to manually check each bid they want to then delete.
Admin>Auction>Permissions - new options for the Admin to assign auction level permissions by Name or Role.
Admin>Auction>Settlements & BuyNow items> An issue was fixed where buynow items purchased at different times were creating multiple settlement reports for the same Consignor. In this system update, if a settlement report already exists for a Consignor, any new BuyNow item purchase will be added to the existing Settlement report.
Admin>Admin log out. We fixed an issue some clients were reporting where they were auto-logged out of the admin panel at 4:00pm.
July 3, 2023 — System Update
Please review each of the system updates listed below.
Live Assistant Update
Admin>Auctions>Live Assistant. The Live Assistant has been updated with the following enhancements:
Countdown Timers are now shown for each item in the Live Assistant
Halt & Resume buttons added for each item. If an item is Halted, and then Resumed, the admin has the option to change the End Time. If not, the item will keep the original end time.
The Admin can place bids on any item, at any time, even after the item has Ended. If the admin is entering a bid after the item has Ended, there is an optional checkbox to 'extend the item end time' as seen below.
Additional enhancements have been made such as removing the SKU# from the page, displaying the first X characters of the item description, displaying the primary thumbnail image of the item, displaying the current bid, the minimum next required bid, the high bidder#, and the max bid amount, a larger green 'bid now' button located at both the top and bottom of each page.
Buy it Now and new Make an Offer feature
Admin>Auctions>Auction Dashboard>Buy It Now. Multiple updates have been made to the BuyNow functionality including the following:
Make an Offer. We have a new optional feature for inventory items - make an offer. The make an offer is available for any BuyNow item as seen below:
In the Add/Edit Item page, as seen below, there are 2 options that can be selected:
Enable Only Buy Now. If selected, the Bid Boxes will disappear for this single item...and the bidders will only have the option to buy it now, or make an offer.
Minimum Accepted Offer Amount. If selected, this is the minimum amount of an offer that the admin is willing to consider. In the above screenshot, the admin has set a $500 buy it now price, and a $400 minimum accepted offer amount. If a bidder submits an offer for $350, the bidder will instantly see a pop-up window with a message saying their offer was declined. If the same bidder then makes a $400 offer, an email will be sent to the Admin alerting you of the pending offer.
If the Admin is uploading their inventory via an MS Excel file: There have been 2 new columns added to the Excel file - Column# H for the buynow price and Column# I for the minimum buy now offer amount.
On the public bidding pages, the bidders will see a new button called, 'Make An Offer' as seen below:
If a bidder submits an Offer that meets the optional minimum amount, the admin will receive an email alerting them of the submitted offer.
In the Admin>Auction>Auction Dashboard, the admin can go to the BuyNow tab, and there is a drop down menu where either Buy Now items or Buy Now Offers can be filtered.
The admin can review and either Accept or Decline a Buy Now Offer from here. If rejected, the bidder can submit another best offer. If the admin accepts the offer, the invoice can be accessible through the Invoices tab. Here the admin can add Fees (premium, tax, etc) and use the standard invoicing tools for invoicing, emailing, and recording a payment.
Other updates to the BuyNow include: In the Admin>Auction>Items tab, if a buynow item is purchased, it will now be reflected properly in the Items tab. The Items tab Filter 'no bids' filter will no longer show items that have been purchased via BuyNow.
Public pages Breadcrumb Menu
Public>Auction Pages> new Breadcrumb menu. There was an issue with our previous system update and the breadcrumb menu. In this update we've updated the auction pages breadcrumb menu as seen below. The back arrow will take the user back to the previous page they were just on (just like the back button in the web browser). The Auctions link will take the User back to the main Calendar/current auction page. Clicking on the Auction Title will take the user back to the first page of the auction.
Create Custom Starting Item Number
In the Admin>Auction>Auction Dashboard>Items tab>Lot Actions>Create Inventory>Custom Starting Item Number
When creating blank inventory items, the system will automatically start with item#1. Now the admin can now choose a custom starting number as seen below.
Credit Card Payment Receipt
Admin>Auctions>Auction Dashboard>Invoices
The admin can now view or print a credit card receipt for MaxanetPay transactions. In the Invoices tab, click on the arrow to the left of the Invoice number to expand the row and show the payment history. On the far right there is now a print icon as seen below.
Other updates/bug fixes include:
In the Auction>Items>Add/Edit Item page, we've duplicated the 'Save' buttons and the navigation options (prev/next/all) to the bottom of the page as well as the top.
Fixed an issue where the admin could enter a quantity of '0' on an item.
We've had some issues with the Bulk Emailer & Bulk Image Upload running at the same time with clients experiencing delays. In this system update we have separated these background services to help improve the performance and timeliness of both.
May 29, 2023 — System Update
Please review each of the system updates listed below.
Auction Level Pageviews. Last month we upgraded the backend of the software to the newest version of Google Analytics (GA4). This month we've started to incorporate auction level pageviews into the Admin>Auction>Auction Dashboard page. We will be continuing to add additional metrics for both global & auction level analytics in the months to come.
Lifetime pageviews = total # of pageviews, including after the auction has ended
Active pageviews = from the start date to the end date of the auction
Non-Taxable Item Category. In the Admin>Inventory>Item Categories page, when you Add a new Category, there is now an option to make that Category 'Non Taxable'. Any item associated to a Non-Taxable Category will be automatically tax-exempt.
You cannot edit an existing Category to make it tax-exempt. You will need to create a new Category from scratch and make it tax-exempt. There is a 'Replace' function on Admin>Inventory>Item Categories page where you can move/merge old Categories to your new category.
Grouped Items. The 'name' of the Item Group will now be displayed on the public auction pages underneath the description of the item.
Public>Bidder>Global Watchlist page - open items. An update was made to make the default be 'ALL ITEMS' instead of 'Open Items' in the bidders Global Watchlist page.
Auction Level Fees. When using the 'Save & New' function in the Admin>Auction>Items>Add/Edit Item page, there was an issue where the auction level fee was not auto-filling in for the new item.
Deleting Fees on the Invoice Level. In the Admin>Auction>Invoices tab, if you select an invoice, or multiple invoices, and then use the orange colored Group Action>Delete Fees and Tax option, you will see the following screen:
The system will now allow you to delete specific Fees or Tax, or delete custom Fees from the selected invoice(s). For example, if you are charging a 15% buyers premium on all of the invoices but offer a 12% buyers premium if the bidder is paying cash. Select the invoice(s), Group Actions>Delete Fees and Tax, and use the 'Delete Specific Fee and Tax' option, and then from the drop down menu, select the 15% Premium Fee you want to delete, and click on the 'Yes' button to remove it. You can then quickly apply the new 12% Premium Fee to the invoice(s)
Offline Items updates. We have added the status for Offline items to the Admin>Auction>Items tab and we have included the Offline item info in the Sales Tax report.
Sales Tax Report - additional fields added. The Download Sales Tax Report (excel file) now includes the total tax collected for each individual Tax Fee Code (Bid Amount x Tax Rate = Tax)
Public Auction Pages Navigation - anchor points added when using the 'Back' button on the browser to return to the previous page of an auction.
New Bidder Registration Passwords. There is now an option for the bidder to 'show their password' as they are typing it out. This can help when you have to type your password in twice. Also, we experienced issues with the '%' character in bidders passwords so we have removed it as an acceptable character.
Public Pages>Sharing to Facebook. An issue was fixed where the shared URL was the '.maxanet.auction' URL, not your custom masked URL.
May 3, 2023 — System Update
Please review each of the system updates listed below.
Admin>Configurations>Public Page Configurations - 0:00 time remaining custom message. To help avoid any bidder confusion if they are the current high bidder or not when an item is in the process of ending, we've added a custom text/refresh option that the admin can enable which will display when the item countdown timer reaches 0:00.
The default message is, 'Determining Winner - Please Refresh'. The message itself can be hyperlinked so the bidder can click on it which will refresh only the item itself, not the entire page, and show the updated status of the item and the final bid price, or the auto-extension if a last second bid had come in.
To turn this feature on, navigate to the Configurations>Public Page Configurations page and scroll down to the 'Button' section. There you'll see an ON/OFF switch for 'Enable Custom Text'. If turned ON, you will see additional options appear to make the message hyperlinked to refresh the item, and to put in your own custom message that will be displayed to the bidders. Click the Save button to update.
Auction>First-Bid Form. The admin now has the option to create custom questions that are posed to the bidders before they place their first bid in the auction. There are options for custom text input, drop down, radio buttons, etc. The admin can review the answers or download them to Excel.
For a more detailed step by step guide on how to use this feature please review the following article:
https://intercom.help/maxanet/en/articles/7854539-first-bid-form-questions
New Bidder Registration>Registration Questions. Similar to the above auction level questions, the Admin can now optionally pose questions or drop-down selections on the new bidder registration page.
For a more detailed step by step guide on how to use this feature please review the following article:
https://intercom.help/maxanet/en/articles/7854608-new-bidder-registration-questions
Admin>Google Analytics>Update to newest GA4 metrics. We've updated the behind the scenes analytics to the newest version. Soon we will be implementing new features and tools for the admin to have greater visibility into both global & auction level pageviews/metrics.
Admin>Auction>Items>Add/Edit Item - Category is now OPTIONAL. When adding a new inventory item, or using Excel to bulk upload items, the Category for each item is now optional, not required.
Admin>Configurations>Public Page Configurations - updated Logo size. We've adjusted the size requirements of your logo for the public auction pages. Previously your logo size was increased to 500px wide but now for example if you upload a smaller 250px wide logo, it will display at that size.
Admin>Auction>Items - ability to show/hide specific item visibility to public. In the Actions menu, there is a new 'Hide' option for each item. This can be useful if you have a buy it now item in an auction that was sold, and you want to remove the visibility of that item.
When an item is hidden from public visibility, it will receive a new label of 'Hidden' as seen below.
The admin can also use the orange colored Group Actions button to do this in bulk across multiple items.
Admin>Auction>Auction Dashboard>Metric - reserve price item totals. The Reserve Not Met figure has been updated to accurately reflect the current bid price total of items that have a reserve price that has not yet been met.
Admin>Auction>Settlements>Make Payment - new Partial Payment options for Settlement Reports. The admin can now record split/partial payment amounts on Settlement reports.
Admin>Auction>Images Tab - new download specific images option added. Mouse over an image and there is a new 'download' icon.
Public Pages>Bidder Drop Down Menu. An issue was fixed where the drop-down menu was sometimes being cutoff.
Public Pages>Auction>Items with Quantity fix. Previously, when an item ended that had a QTY greater than 1, the 'x your bid' text disappeared. This has been fixed and the 'x your bid' text will remain even after the item is ended.
Public Pages>Bidder Profile>Shipping Address Country fix. An update was made to make the default country in the drop-down be USA. Previously the user had to select it from the drop-down menu.
Public Pages>Not Logged in, looking at item, place bid, login, redirection issue. A navigation/anchor issue was fixed for bidders who attempted to place a bid when not logged in.
Admin>Users>Deactivate User - unchecked boxes. Both the 'Delete all current winning bids' and the 'Send Bidder Suspended Email' check-boxes have been unchecked by default now.
Admin>Users>Invoices - Actions menu cutoff fix. Previously the first item in the Users>Invoices tab had the actions menu visibility cut off.

The Rotation will be nearly instant. If you click on the 'Edit' option, the image will expand into a lightbox as seen below with photo editing tools such as: Resize, Crop, Flip, Rotate, Draw, Text on photo. You must click on the 'Apply' button to apply the changes and then 'Save' to close.

Previously, at the top of the payments tab, it would show the totals for the different payment types of Credit Card, Cash, Check, and Other.

The 'Actions' menu will give the Admin options to Edit existing Types or delete them. Once these custom Payment Types are added, if you then go to the Admin>Auction>Invoices tab, and record/make a payment on a bidders invoice, and choose the 'OTHER' payment type, you'll see the following:
Use your pre-existing custom Payment Types, or create a new type on the fly with the 'Add Type' option on this page.

Public Auction Page: Grid View - a bug was fixed with the Location field. If the Admin was using the 'Location' field in the item description, it was not showing the full description to the bidders when they viewed the auction in Grid View. This has now been fixed.
Admin: Auction: Add/Edit Auction - a bug was fixed with Auction level Fees. When the Admin has 'FEES' associated on the auction level (from the Add/Edit Auction page), and then use MS Excel to download the inventory, make changes, and reupload at a later date.
Public: Bidder Profile: Invoices: Make Payment - a bug was fixed where the bidder was previously able to 'double click' on the make payment option which was double charging an invoice in some cases. This has now been fixed.

Admin: Users: User Profile: Payment Methods - MaxanetPay clients can now charge a bidders credit card on file for any amount at any time using the Actions menu: Collect Registration Fee option. Navigate to the bid history of an inventory item and you'll now see there is a blue colored 'Email All' button towards the top. Clicking on this will open a pop-up window where the admin can choose which bidders will receive the email - all participating bidders is the default - and then the admin can fill in both the email Subject line and email Body.
We have created a new corresponding Email Template called, "Item Level Bidders". The admin can select this template from the top of the pop-up window drop down. The admin can also customize this email template from the Configurations: Email Templates.
Admin: Auction: Settlement Reports - New settlement report options of All Items, Paid Items, Unpaid Items, No Bid Items. Admin: Auction: Auction Dashboard - Show or Hide Bidder Email Addresses on Invoices. A new toggle switch called, 'Display Bidder Email Addresses on Invoices' has been added on the right side of the Auction Dashboard (orange circle to expand/contract).

We have a new feature where when the Admin clicks on the 'Disable Bidding' option from the Users page, a new pop-up window will appear and give the admin 2 options: Delete all current winning bids and/or Send the Bidder a 'Bidder Suspended' email. The default is that both of these options are selected at the same time. Public: Bidding: Logout due to inactivity - clear browser cache. This update will help resolve issues some bidders may experience where they think they are logged in, but were actually logged out due to inactivity.
Public: Bidding - add payment method. There was an issue on some devices where when the bidder places their first bid in an auction, and they are required to add a Credit Card in order to bid, the pop-up window was distorted.
Admin: Invoicing - MaxanetPay Refunded payments are now displaying on the Daily Deposit Report.
Admin: Configurations: Invoice Configuration - an issue was fixed where the custom Logo the admin uploads was disappearing.
January 3, 2023 — System Update
Maxanet system update includes the following:
Admin: Auction: Items Tab - Column headers are not clickable/sortable.
MaxanetPay clients: Now have the option to 'Authorize Bidder Credit Cards' in the Add/Edit Auction page. Previously the system would only do a 'Card Verify' process but now clients can actually charge the bidders credit cards on file for any amount (we recommend $1) and if that charge is successful, it is immediately voided and returned back to the bidder. This charge occurs when the bidder places their first bid in the auction and is agreeing to the Terms of the sale.
MaxanetPay client: The admin can now easily 'refund' any payments collected via the 'Collect Deposit' feature of the Add/Edit Auction page. The refund option can be found in the Actions menu of the 'Bidders' tab in the auction dashboard.
Admin: Auction: Preview - in the preview of the auction, the 'Categories' drop down will now work.
Public: Auction: Ended Items - items where the bidding has concluded will now have a label of 'ended' shown to the public/bidders. When the admin ends the auction in the admin panel and generates the invoices, the labels of items that received a bid will change to 'sold' and items that did not receive a bid will change to 'unsold'.
Wordpress Websites - we did a behind the scenes update to all clients Wordpress sites to keep them up to date with plugin versions and security. There is a known issue with the 'captcha' of the contact forms so it has been removed until we can find a solution.
