When you log into your Maxanet admin panel, the default page will be the page with your current auctions. This is the page where you can create a new auction or edit an existing auction:

To create a new Auction:

Click on the green colored 'Add' button located near the upper right part of the page.

The Add Auction page will appear. There are some required fields that need to be entered for each new auction:

  • Auction Title

  • Start Date

  • End Date

  • Auction Type

You can learn more about Auction Types here and how they can be used.

Auction Title: You can change the auction title at any point, even after the auction has ended and the auction moved to the past auctions page.

Start Date (Central Time): The Start Date is a required field. The Start Date determines when the auction goes from the 'future auctions' to the 'current auctions' page on your public website. The Start Date also determines if the auction is in the Draft Auctions or Current Auctions tab in the admin panel.

  • Both the Start Date & the End Date must be entered by the admin in Central Time. This is the only area of the platform that needs any time zone calculation. The public/bidders will never need to account for different time zones as the software goes off of the bidders browser/computer time zone.

End Date (Central Time): The End Date is a required field. The End Date determines the exact time the first item in the auction will close. If you set the End Timer to 8:00pm, the countdown timer for the first item in the auction will end at that time.

OPTIONAL Feature: We can enable an option for clients that will display the following fields: Preview Start Date, Preview End Date, Pickup Start Date, Pickup End Date

Please contact us if you'd like this feature turned on. The dates entered will display to the public on the auction Details page.

Auction Type: This is a required field. Choose an auction Type, or multiple types, or you can click on the green 'Add Type' button to add a new type which will then be then added to the drop down menu. You can learn more about Auction Types here and how they can be used.

Auction Fees: This is an optional field. Fees can be added to the auction level. This can be very useful if all items in the auction will have the same Fees. For example - you can assign a Buyers Premium and Sales Tax fee, and all items you create in the auction will have those fees automatically applied. You can add/edit/remove these Fees on the item level at any time.

Auction Display Order: Clients should keep the number entered into this field the same.

Auto Extend Time: The Auto Extend Time is in minutes. The default entry = 3. If kept the same, and an item in the auction receives a bid with less than 3 minutes remaining on the countdown timer, that item will auto-extend to 3 minutes. This means if a bid comes in with 0:01 remaining; it will auto-extend to 3:00 minutes. If a bid came in with 2:55 remaining; it will auto-extend to 3:00 minutes. The auto extend can be set to = 0 and items will not auto-extend.

Custom Text on QR Codes: Some clients choose to use the QR code upload system for bulk loading photos. Clients who go this route can use the Custom Text field which adds whatever is entered onto the bottom of the QR stickers that are printed out. Most clients put their website URL or company name.

Staggered Ending: This is rate of close of the auction. The default selection is 3 Items/1 Minute. Your selection for this option depends on the number of items in the auction and the type of items that you are selling.

Custom Staggered Ending: If you check this box, a new input field called, "Staggered Ending in Seconds' will appear. The entry here is in Seconds. For example, if you enter 20 into this box, the rate of close of the auction will be 1 item every 20 seconds.

Display Format: We have 4 options to choose from.

  • Open Bidding: This is the default. Open Bidding gives the bidder 2 bid boxes - the minimum next required bid or the optional max-bid.

  • Maximum Bidding: This format gives the bidders just 1 bid box which can be used for the next required bid or a max bid.

  • Hidden Bidding: Used as a sealed bid type auction where none of the bids, or the amounts, are shown to the public. Bidders submit their best offer.

  • Price List: There are no bid boxes in this format. Clients primarily use this for buy it now items but it can also be used as an inventory list (with no bidding).

There are a number of optional checkboxes as follows:

  • Display Contact Information: If selected, the address information will be displayed on the Auction Details page.

  • Private Auction: If selected, only approved bidders will be allowed to place a bid in this auction. If a bidder attempts to place a bid, they will receive a message to contact the administrator. In the admin panel, a new tab will be visible in the Auction Dashboard called Private Bidders. Here the admin can choose to allow certain bidders to participate in the event.

  • Display in Public Page: Important: There is a checkbox called 'Display in Public Page'. If this is not checked, which it is not by default, the auction will NOT appear on your public Current Auctions page.

  • Collect Deposit: For MaxanetPay users. When selected, a new field called, 'Collect Deposit Amount' will appear which the admin can enter an amount. This gives the admin the option to charge bidders a Fee when they place their first bid in the auction.

  • Display Preview Date: This is optional, and must be turned on by Maxanet for your account.

  • Card Required to Bid: For MaxanetPay users. If selected, all bidders participating in the auction must have a credit card in their bidder profile. Bidders can be exempt from this by going to their Admin: Users: Bidder Profile page where there is a toggle switch to require CC.

  • Post-Sale Price Sort: If selected, at the end of the auction, the order of items will re-arrange and the highest dollar amount items will be shown first, in descending order.

To load highlight images for an Auction:

The Auction Dashboard has a tab called, Gallery. From here, clients can add/edit/delete their auction level highlight photos.

To Edit an existing Auction: If the auction has already been created, you can edit any of the information of the auction by going to the Auctions page (from the left column) and then click on the 3 dots in the far right under the Actions column. In the drop down menu that appears, click on the 'Edit' option.

Alternatively, you can click on the Auction Name to go to into the Auction Dashboard. From the Menu you can select the 'Edit' option here.
