Overview

Adding a consignor to Maxanet creates a new user account with the Consignor role, which Maxanet uses to generate settlement reports, assign inventory items, and provide the consignor with their own public-facing profile where they can see their items and settlement statements. Maxanet automatically emails the new consignor a username and system-generated password when you add them. You can also toggle existing bidders to become consignors (and vice versa) using the Users page Actions menu.

How to add a new consignor from the Users page

From the left-side navigation menu in your Maxanet Admin panel, click Users → Users. This page lists every registered user (bidders and consignors together). Click the green Add button in the upper right. In the pop-up form, set the first field Role to Consignor from the dropdown. Fill in the required contact details (name, email, address, etc.) and click Add to save. Maxanet sends the new consignor an automated email with their username and system-generated password — they can use these credentials to log into their consignor profile on your public auction site.

How to make a bidder also be a consignor (dual role)

An existing user can have both the Bidder and Consignor roles simultaneously — useful when a bidder also brings items to consign. To add the consignor role to an existing bidder, go to Users, find the user, click the Actions menu on the far right, and select Make Bidder also Consignor. The user keeps their existing login credentials and can now both bid and be assigned items as a consignor.

How to make a consignor also be a bidder

Similarly, if an existing consignor wants to bid in your auctions, go to Users, find the consignor, open the Actions menu, and select Make Consignor also Bidder. They can now place bids using their existing login credentials.

Common questions

Will the consignor get an email when I add them?

Yes. Maxanet automatically sends the consignor an email with their username and system-generated password so they can log into their consignor profile on your public site.

Can a single user be both a bidder and a consignor?

Yes. Use the Actions menu on the Users page to toggle the additional role on an existing user. The user keeps their existing login.

What does a consignor see when they log in to the public site?

Consignors have their own profile page where they can view the items assigned to them, see their settlement reports, and track their payouts.

Can I change a consignor's password?

Use the password reset option from the Actions menu on the Users page — Maxanet sends them a reset email just like for bidders.
