Overview

Maxanet keeps its base monthly subscription fee low by spreading infrastructure costs across clients through a pageview surcharge on high-traffic accounts. Clients with under 10,000 monthly pageviews pay just the base subscription. Clients over 10,000 pageviews pay a tiny per-pageview fee on the excess. Total monthly Maxanet invoices are capped at $850 so even very busy clients with millions of pageviews never pay more than that cap.

How the pageview surcharge works

Maxanet's pricing model is designed to give every client β€” large or small β€” access to top-of-the-line 24/7 servers without charging everyone a large flat fee. To do this, Maxanet spreads infrastructure costs by charging a pageview surcharge on any calendar month where your public auction pages receive more than 10,000 unique pageviews. Clients under 10,000 pageviews pay only the base subscription fee.

How much is the pageview surcharge?

For every unique pageview over 10,000 in a calendar month, Maxanet charges $0.005 (one half of one cent) per pageview. That's $5 per additional 1,000 pageviews, which scales linearly with traffic.

The $850 monthly cap for busy clients

Some Maxanet clients run dozens of large auctions per month and generate millions of pageviews, which would add up to a high surcharge under the per-pageview rate. To prevent that, Maxanet caps the total monthly invoice at $850.00 regardless of how high your pageview count goes. Even a client generating 10 million pageviews in a month never pays more than $850 total for that month.

Common questions

What's the pageview threshold before the surcharge kicks in?

10,000 unique pageviews in a calendar month. Below that, you pay only the base subscription with no surcharge.

How much does the pageview surcharge cost per pageview?

$0.005 (half a penny) per pageview over 10,000 in a calendar month. That's $5 per additional 1,000 pageviews.

Is there a maximum I can be billed in a month?

Yes. Maxanet caps total monthly invoices at $850, even for clients generating millions of pageviews. You will never pay more than $850 in a single month regardless of traffic.

Do unique pageviews count or total pageviews?

Unique pageviews. The surcharge is based on unique pageviews, not total pageviews.

Why does Maxanet use a pageview surcharge instead of a flat higher rate?

It keeps the base subscription fee low for smaller clients who haven't yet built up much traffic, while asking high-traffic clients to contribute proportionally to infrastructure costs. Newer clients rarely hit the 10,000 threshold at all.
