Overview

Maxanet supports both bulk download of every image in an auction (delivered as a named ZIP file) and bulk upload of photos where filenames match item numbers or SKUs. These workflows are useful for batch editing, offsite backups, bulk photo prep in external tools, or migrating photos between auctions.

How to bulk download every image in an auction

From your Maxanet Admin panel, go to the auction dashboard and click the Images tab. Near the top is a green Download button. Click it. For auctions with hundreds or thousands of images the export takes time — rather than making you wait, Maxanet processes in the background and emails the admin an automated message with a hyperlink to download the compressed ZIP once it's ready.

How images are named in the downloaded ZIP

Images in the ZIP are named by Item Number. If an item has multiple photos, filenames use a suffix:

2.JPG (item 2, first photo)
2_1.JPG (item 2, second photo)
2_2.JPG (item 2, third photo)

This naming scheme makes it easy to identify which photo belongs to which item, and is compatible with the bulk upload workflow if you want to reimport edited photos.

How to bulk upload photos by Item Number or SKU

From your Maxanet Admin panel, go to the auction dashboard and click the Items tab. Click the teal Lot Actions button and select Image Bulk Upload from the dropdown. A pop-up screen appears with additional info. You can choose whether the filenames in your upload match the Maxanet Item# or the internal SKU#. Prepare your photos with filenames like 1.jpg, 1_1.jpg, 2.jpg and then put all the photos into a folder and ZIP that folder (or the photos themselves). Upload the ZIP through the pop-up. Maxanet matches filenames to items and attaches each photo automatically.

Common questions

How long does a bulk download take for 10,000 photos?

Several minutes to ~1 hour depending on file sizes and server load. Maxanet runs the job in the background and emails you when the ZIP is ready — you don't have to sit on the page waiting.

Should I name photos by Item# or SKU#?

Item# is more human-friendly and matches your Excel template. SKU# is Maxanet's internal unique ID and is useful if item numbers have changed or if you're working from a backup. Either works — choose on the Image Bulk Upload pop-up.

What ZIP format is required for upload?

Standard .zip (compressed). Create it with Windows → Send To → Compressed Zip Folder, or Mac → Compress X items. Make sure the files are at the top level of the ZIP or in a simple folder — nested subfolders may not parse correctly.

Can I upload photos that are already edited in Photoshop?

Yes. Maxanet accepts JPG and other standard image formats. Edit in your tool of choice, save with the right filename (matching item numbers), ZIP, and upload.
