Assigning the patient's sex ensures Maxly's clinical notes use the correct gender references for your animal patients. Follow these steps to set the patient's sex.
Step 1: Start a New Encounter
Log in to Maxly and click "New Encounter" from the dashboard.
Select or assign a patient for the session using the "Assign to Patient" button.
Step 2: Select Patient Sex
Above the transcription area, find the "Select Sex" dropdown (near "Assign to Patient").
Choose the patient's sex: "Male," "Female," "Male (Neutered)," or "Female (Spayed)."
The selection applies to the session and saves for future encounters with saved patients.
Tip: Confirm the patient's sex with the client or check the medical record to ensure accuracy.
Step 3: Review Notes with Correct References
Speak naturally during the session; Maxly Scribe will transcribe and generate notes using the correct gender references (e.g., "he/him" for male patients, "she/her" for female patients).
Check the "Clinical Note" tab to confirm the references are applied correctly.
Edit if needed, but Maxly does not yet learn sex from edits—manually set it each time if necessary.
Observations and follow-up suggestions specific to the encounter.
