Maxly supports multilingual documentation, making it easy to work in the language you need. You can change your interface language, transcribe conversations in different languages, and generate clinical notes in English, Spanish, or French.
Overview
Maxly is built for veterinary professionals working in multilingual environments. Language settings let you:
View the Maxly interface in your preferred language
Transcribe appointment conversations in the language they're spoken in
Generate clinical notes in the language required for your records
These settings are flexible and can be used independently, depending on your workflow.
Supported Languages
Maxly currently supports:
English
Spanish
French
More languages are coming soon—keep an eye on our Release Notes for updates.
What You Can Do with Language Settings
Maxly's language support applies to three different areas:
Interface Language: Changes the language of the Maxly interface, including menus, buttons, and labels.
Transcription Language: Maxly transcribes conversations in the language they're spoken in, using models optimized for each supported language.
Note Generation Language: When Maxly drafts a clinical note, it generates both section headers and content in your selected language. You can also reprocess an existing note to generate it in a different language.
These settings work independently. For example, you can use the interface in French, transcribe a conversation in English, and generate the clinical note in Spanish.
How to Change Your Interface Language
Step 1: Open Your Profile
Sign in to Maxly at https://secure.maxly.vet/en/sign-in
Click your profile name in the top-left corner of the dashboard to open the menu.
Step 2: Open Settings
Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
Step 3: Choose a Language
Find the Language section.
Select English, Spanish, or French from the dropdown.
The change takes effect immediately—no need to save or restart.
Step 4: Start Using Maxly in Your Language
All interface text updates instantly.
This language is also used as the default for new transcriptions and note generation.
Selecting a Language Before You Start an Encounter
Before recording, you can choose the language for a specific encounter using the language selector dropdown at the top of the encounter screen.
How to Set the Encounter Language
Open or create a new encounter.
At the top of the encounter, click the Language dropdown (for example, English).
Select English, Spanish, or French.
Start recording as usual.
What This Controls
The language used for transcription
The language used for clinical note generation
Section headers and AI-generated content for that encounter
Important: The encounter language is independent of your interface language. Selecting the language before recording provides the best transcription accuracy. If needed, you can still reprocess the encounter later to generate the note in a different language.
How to Generate a Note in a Different Language (Reprocess)
If an encounter has already been recorded and you need the clinical note in another language, you can reprocess it.
Step 1: Open the Encounter
Navigate to the encounter from your dashboard.
Step 2: Open Reprocess Options
Click the on the three dots on the top right corner of the encounter where you will see the option to reprocess.
Step 3: Select the Language
Choose English, Spanish, or French from the language dropdown.
Step 4: Reprocess the Note
Click Reprocess.
Maxly regenerates the clinical note in the selected language, including all section headers and content.
This is useful when:
The conversation was recorded in one language, but documentation is needed in another
A colleague or referring veterinarian requires notes in a different language
You work in a multilingual practice and document in the client's preferred language
How Language Works with Transcription
Maxly automatically selects the best transcription model based on the chosen language:
English: Optimized for veterinary terminology and clinical accuracy
Spanish: Multilingual model with broad vocabulary coverage
French: Enhanced multilingual model with strong French support
The transcription language is determined by the encounter language selected before recording or during reprocessing.
Language Support in the AI Assistant
The AI Assistant responds in the language associated with the encounter or clinical note you're viewing.
When you ask questions, the AI Assistant:
Uses the same language as the note
References transcriptions, notes, and uploaded documents in that language
Tips for Multilingual Documentation
Set the language before recording: Choosing the encounter language ahead of time improves transcription accuracy.
Use reprocessing for translation: Reprocess an encounter instead of re-recording to generate notes in another language.
Test with a demo note: Try a demo encounter after changing languages to see how transcription and notes behave.
Stay consistent per patient: Keeping notes in a single language per patient can make records easier to follow.
Support client communication: Generate visit summaries or educational materials in the client's preferred language.
Share feedback: Report translation issues or request new languages at hello@maxly.vet.
