Socket scanners use Bluetooth to connect to your iPad, so if you are experiencing difficulties, please try the following steps
Unpair the device: go to the iPad's Bluetooth settings, click the (i) button next to the scanner and select "Forget Device." Make sure to do this for any iPads connected to the scanner.
Then turn off the iPad's Bluetooth.
Next, reset the pairing on the scanner
To do this on the scanner, hold down the power and scanner buttons at the same time for 3 seconds on the scanner (it will beep). It is now unpaired from all devices.
If you experience further problems, you may need to change the scanner's mode or reset it to factory settings and try again.
After completing the above steps, turn the scanner on and scan the correct barcode for the device type you are using (iPad or PC). This scanner will beep and may turn off. If so, turn it on again.
Turn Bluetooth on in the iPad or PC's settings and try to pair.

If you'd like to learn more about the Socket scanner and how to use it, the company that makes them provides these resources:
Socket Scanner Users Guide which includes the List of Command Barcodes for the Scanner beginning on page 13.
Search the App Store for "Socket Mobile," and download the Socket Mobile Companion and ScannerSettings apps. You can use these to control settings on your scanner like the mode or auto-scanning.
Auto Mode (Presentation Mode) will keep the scanner on, which makes it faster to scan without picking it up or pressing the button, however it also drains the battery so it's best to keep the scanner docked in the charger if you use this mode.

Other apps can interfere with the Meadow app's connection to hardware.
Make sure that all apps are closed, including the Meadow app; restart the iPad.
Only open the Meadow app and set it up to work with hardware.
