Trade Samples
Trade samples are a way for producers and distributors to let retailers and their staff try a product at no cost.
If a package is flagged as a trade sample in Metrc, it will be flagged when it comes into Meadow.
According to regulations, trade samples can’t be sold, so those packages can only be removed from Meadow using a reconciliation or voiding.
View your trade samples by using the filter on the receive packages tab.
§15041.2. Trade Samples.
(b) Cannabis or cannabis products that have been designated as trade samples may be provided from one licensee to another licensee for the purpose of providing the recipient licensee with product information to aid in making purchasing decisions about new or existing cannabis or cannabis products.
Metrc flags "trade samples" packages with an icon 💼
Only the licensee who added the flag can remove it (the producer or distributor). So, if you would like to sell these units, you should ask the distributor if they can remove the flag before accepting trade sample packages in the future.
We recommend reconciling these packages directly in Meadow. However, you can void the package in Meadow and manually adjust it directly in Metrc. This is the ONLY case you should be adjusting any packages in Metrc directly. All other package adjustments should always be made in Meadow.
Admin Hold
Packages marked as on Administrative Hold in Metrc by the regulator can't be sold, and must be reconciled or transferred in Metrc.
This is most commonly used for product recalls, for example when a batch is found to have failed a lab test.
These packages will be flagged in Meadow and can't be sold, only reconciled.
View any admin hold packages by using the filter on the receive packages tab.
