Inside this article, you’ll get insights on whether or not Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is the best fit for your business, and hopefully, it will help you decide which email tool to use that fits your needs and budget.

Here’s everything you need to know about Kit and how well it integrates with MemberVault:

PROS

  • It can be directly integrated with MemberVault
One of the biggest advantages of using Kit is that it has direct integration with MemberVault so it’s super easy for you to get started and connect both of these platforms together. This also means that you don’t need to use any additional tool such as Zapier in order to connect MV with Kit which will save you money in the long run.

  • Kit's interface is user-friendly and easy to use
Another advantage of using Kit is their interface is user-friendly and easy to use so there aren’t any huge learning curves compared to other email tools.

They also have this neat feature called Visual Automations which enables you to map out your customer journey and set up all sorts of things such as automatically send an email or tag a subscriber based on the triggers set by you.

They also made the process of creating an email sequence easy and seamless, which is another plus point.

  • You can set up a webhook to add new members to your account using our advanced Kit Automation!

This is which is especially handy if you are collecting payment or sign-ups for your MemberVault products on an external cart or landing page. For specific steps on how to set this up, view this article.

  • Similar values to our platform - Kit was built for creators by creators, and their tagline is "For creators who mean business." At MV we love combining your creative passion with a business model that supports you and your lifestyle, and encourage you to engage and connect with your audience while providing valuable products and offers.

  • Ability to create forms, landing pages and pop-up forms - While our Form product type allows you to collect name and email, you can use Kit Forms to collect other custom fields for more advanced automation and segmentation in your list. Here are some samples of how you can use these features:

    • Collect subscriber details for a free product using a Kit Form, then use a webhook to add Kit subscribers to your products in MV.

    • Create a pop-up form in Kit, and add the script tag to the Custom Javascript section of your whole account (under "Settings" > "General" > "Advanced") or in the Custom Javascript section of individual pages or blog posts. Yes, pop-up forms can be annoying... but they WORK, and you can set your pop-ups to appear at infrequent intervals for people landing on your MV.

    • Embed a sign-up form on a page you've created in your MV account! Here's how to do that.

    • Link to a Kit Landing Page in your MV site -- this could be in your Navigation menu using the external link option, your Secondary button of your welcome area, or in a strategic spot in one of your products, pages or posts.

  • Collect Double Opt-In for Email Consent - It's important to make sure you have permission to email your people. While MV has a native email consent feature (which we strongly recommend using), if you are collecting signups to your Kit list via their forms/landing pages etc, you can use their double opt-in feature for the same purpose. This feature makes it more likely you're getting high quality subscribers to your list who want to be there and learn from you!

CONS

  • While Kit does allow you to create personalized content (ie you can write one email but show different messages based on someone who has already bought your product vs someone who you'd like to encourage to purchase), you do need to use a bit of liquid coding for this. They have great help articles to walk you through this, but just know the process is slightly more complicated than ActiveCampaign's conditional content box and requires some coding.

  • If you have a lot of tags accumulated in your Kit account, this could cause a duplicate tag error to emerge for some more complex automations between MV and Kit. In general, our API connection with Kit works great and this is not going to be an issue for you in most situations. However if you have a large MV audience (ie 10,000 or more), a ton of tags and use a lot of webhooks to add subscribers from Kit to MV, then you may want to consider ActiveCampaign for this instead.

Note: Kit has a generous free plan that allows you up to 10,000 subscribers on your newsletter list as well the API connection you'll need to integrate with MemberVault. Keep in mind on Kit's free plan, you can only have one multi-email sequence and one visual automation (used for automating welcome emails etc), which does limit you if you're working with more than one product/offer in your MemberVault account!

Kit's free plan also does not include their webhook feature.
