If you have not set up any actions to tag your members when they are added to a product, and you do not have an email service connected to your MV account, then your members will NOT receive an email when you are manually or bulk adding them to your products in MV.
MemberVault doesn’t send any emails on your behalf, and the reason for this is that we’d like you to have full control over communications with your clients and customers.
This is ideal if you are moving from another platform and wish to grant access to members who previously bought your product without triggering a welcome email and potentially causing confusion with your customers.
If you've already set up an action to tag members and trigger a welcome email in your email service when they are added to your product, you can adjust the "how" field in the action so that you're only tagging members when they directly purchase/sign-up for your product. This will exclude anyone you add manually or add via a webhook.
On the other hand, if you WOULD like for your members to receive a welcome email when you manually add them to a product, make sure you've completed the following steps before doing so:
Check that this member already has a contact record in your email service. Due to email privacy laws, if you manually add a member to your account (meaning they aren't signing up for your products themselves), this member will not be added to your email list because the email platform doesn't have a way of knowing your member consented to hear from you.
Make sure your email service is connected to your MV account.
Make sure you have an action set up to tag a member in your email service when they are added to your product. The action trigger for this should be "Added to Product" and the how trigger should be "any."
Have your welcome email automation turned on and ready to send in your email service when the tag is added to their contact record.
