Specialty Tools (Tools with Profiles)
Routing tools that have a profile can be added to the tool list. When used, the parts will be drawn with the profile.
The image below shows the setup for a routing tool with an ogee profile:
When adding a tool with a profile, an AutoCAD drawing of the router bit must be created and the file must reside in the Graphics directory in the Router Bits folder. The Tool Name or Profile Drawing Name must match the name of the drawing.
Using the browse button will take you directly to the Router Bits directory and allow you to select the correct drawing file.
When creating the routing tool profile, the base point (0,0,0 origin) must be the bottom-most midpoint of the profile.
The image below shows the base point for the ogee router bit profile:
The Common Tool Name and Actual Tool Name are the same in the example above. This does not always need to be the case. If the tool is always loaded at the machine, you can use the tool number as the Actual Tool Name.
The remaining settings should be entered based on the specifications for the tool.
