2D Drawings of Custom Products
Products made using the Solid Model Tools may contain more drawing instructions than necessary and can create a 2D drawing that can look busy or confusing. Using other AutoCAD commands can make this process easier.
FLATSHOT (FL) β The FLATSHOT command will create a 2D block of 3D objects based on the current view. For example, a flatshot made while in a southwest isometric (SW) view will create a 2D isometric view. A flatshot created from a front view (UN) will create a 2D elevation.
VIEWBASE β The VIEWBASE command is a powerful tool. It can create multiple views in one operation. However, the view base requires you to draw and notate in paperspace. View base, although powerful, has its limitations. It is recommended to visit knowledge.autodesk.com to learn more about how to use a view base.
SECTIONPLANE/SECTIONPLANETOBLOCK β The SECTIONPLANE command can be used to create 2D sections of 3D solids. Once the section plane has been created, the SECTIONPLANETOBLOCK command will create the 2D drawing block of the section.
You can also use the built-in Microvellum Flatshot Tokens to create drawings once the product has been analyzed and drawn back in the drawing. The Microvellum section command will also allow you to create cross, elevation, or plan sections of the product.
