The following article highlights the Extruded Molding Products for Manufacturing in the Foundation Library. The video below demonstrates adding the Extruded Products to Upper Cabinets.
Extruded Molding Products are intended for use in manufacturing and will ultimately produce parts that require machining. This contrasts with moldings produced in the Draw Room Components, which are solely intended for drawing purposes. The process for creating drawings of Extruded Base and Valence Moldings is similar to the method outlined for creating Crown molding drawings.
How to Draw Extruded Crown Moldings
To access the Extruded Moldings, select Fixtures and Extruded Products> Extruded Moldings from the Draw Products section.
1. Right-click on Extruded Crown and choose Pick Points for Extrusion.
2. Select the points on the cabinets where the Extruded Crown Molding will be placed along, then press enter.
In the example below, two points were selected at each corner for the Crown Molding to be place in between. The right and left finished end extend the molding to the wall.
3. Enter in the desired dimensions and properties of the Crown Molding in the Product Prompt interface. Select OK.
Prompts for Extruded Crown, Base, and Valence Moldings
Red colored prompts are calculated values from a formula. Right click on the textbox to view the formula.
Width: Populated by the Extrusion Line
Height: Enter the overall Height (reference only).
Depth: Used to calculate finished end return length (scribe will be added).
Cabinet Height Above Floor: Height to the top of the cabinets.
Scribe: Amount to add where end meets wall (Scribe Ends and Returns).
Top Scribe: Amount to add where valence meet ceiling.
Cabinet Overhang: Amount to extend the valence past the face of the cabinet. (set to 0 would align flush with front of cabinet)
Valence Height: Height of the vertical valance piece.
Add Crown Molding: Select to include crown molding as part of the product. Uncheck to use room components to draw the molding if required.
Crown, Base, or Valence Selection: Choose type of Molding. You must select the crown prior to drawing the product. To change molding, erase and redraw.
Left Fin End/Right Fin End: Used to include a return to the wall.
Left/Right Joint: Select for no additional material to be added (used for butt joint).
Left/Right Scribe: Select for location where end butts to wall (scribe amount will be added to part length).
Produce Individual Parts: Select to add individual sections to the cut list.
Produce Lengths: Select to add a quantity of lengths to be cut on site to the cut list.
Use Miter fold: Select to Miter fold all parts from a single panel.
Draw Only Miter: Select to only draw Miters, and machine on table saw after parts are cut out.
