Overview: Specification Group Interface

T
Written by Tim Sublette

This brief article provides an overview of the Specification Group interface in Toolbox.

Click the menu commands "Toolbox Setup > Project Specification Groups."

Accessing Project Specification Groups

It is no longer just a list of spec groups. Now the interface displays a visual representation of the spec groups, along with their parts. You may now manipulate the spec groups and components, all from a single interface.

The left window is the Spec Group Window and contains a tree view of the spec groups followed by their assigned components.

The right window is the Components Window and contains a tree view of the component categories followed by the available component items in each category.

If you click on one of the components in either the Spec Group Window of the Component Window, all of the components in the entire interface highlight in blue to show they use the same source file. This makes it easier to double-check that all the assigned components are correct when configuring spec groups.

There are short tutorials demonstrating the use of the new spec group interface elsewhere in the Knowledge Network.

A short video that demonstrates navigating the interface is attached to this article.

Here is an additional video demonstrating how to save a project level global variable back to the library template.
