How to Use Bulk User Updates in People
You can update user fields in bulk by importing an Excel or .CSV file through People Manager using the same workflow used for adding multiple users.
Step-by-step Guide to Creating Your Update File
Step-by-step Guide to Creating Your Update File
Export or build your update spreadsheet.
○ Create an Excel file or .CSV file that contains one row per user you want to update.
○ Include only the columns for the fields you want to change, since columns not included will not be updated.Add a unique identifier for each user.
○ Include Email Address or ID Number for every row so Minga can match updates to the correct existing user.
○ Use ID Number when you want to update student records using a Student ID from your SIS.
Important: You cannot update Email Address using a list upload, even though Email Address can be used to match an existing user.
Example: Update all Student Grades for a New School Year
You can update grades for an entire student list by uploading a file that includes ID Number and Grade (and any other fields you want to refresh).
Download your current student list from your SIS
○ Use a SIS export that contains ID Number and current-year Grade.
Keep only the columns you need to change
○ Include ID Number and Grade if grades are the only change.
○ Include additional columns if you want to refresh more fields during the same upload.
Tip: A “full refresh” export from your SIS is a fast way to update grades and personal information at the same time, as long as every row includes ID Number.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Issue: The import shows errors in the upload summary.
Solution: You can open the error report by clicking Download next to ERRORS in the Upload Summary, then correcting the spreadsheet and re-importing it.
Issue: The error report says “Creating a new user requires an email address.”
Solution: You can fix this by correcting the unique identifier so Minga recognizes the row as an existing user.
Open the downloaded ERRORS spreadsheet.
○ Locate the row flagged with the email-address error and add a valid email address.Verify the ID Number or Email Address matches the existing user exactly.
○ A typo in ID Number can cause Minga to treat the row as a new user.Correct the value and re-upload the file using Import List.
○ Keep Update fields if they already exist selected.
Issue: A column updated data you did not intend to change.
Solution: You can prevent accidental changes by removing that column from your spreadsheet or setting that column to “ignore” during header mapping.
