Thanks to White label emailing, you can send your invitation, verification, and certificate emails from your own domain, rather than no-reply@minicoursegenerator.com.

This allows your emails to reflect your brand and identity, appearing as if they originate directly from you.

There are two ways to set this up:

SMTP: Connects to a mailbox you already have, such as Gmail or Outlook. You don't need to own a domain for this: you can send emails directly from your Gmail address. No DNS setup needed, your emails are sent through your existing mailbox.
API platforms: We offer integration with SendGrid, MailChimp, and MailerSend. These send from your domain and require an API key and DNS records.

Using SMTP with your existing mailbox

If your emails live in Gmail, Outlook, or another mailbox provider, you can connect that mailbox directly with SMTP.

We use Gmail for demonstration purposes in this section.

Step 1: Create a Google App Password

Gmail doesn't accept your normal account password for SMTP connections. You need a 16-character App Password instead.

First, make sure 2-Step Verification is turned on for your Google account. Then, go to https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, give your app password a name, and click Create.

Copy the 16-character password that appears. You won't be able to see it again after closing the window.

💡 You only need one App Password, even if you have multiple collections. An App Password belongs to your Google account, not to a collection, so you can enter the same one in every collection's email settings. If you'd like to be able to revoke a single collection's access later without affecting the others, you can optionally create a separate App Password for each collection.

Step 2: Configure SMTP in Mini Course Generator

Navigate to the Settings for your collection. Then, go to the White label email tab and activate it.

⚠️ If you activate white label email functionality without proper configuration, your emails will not be sent to your learners. You must either deactivate or configure it correctly for emails to be delivered.

Select SMTP under Choose your email provider.

Under Where is your email hosted, select Google. The SMTP server (smtp.gmail.com), Security (STARTTLS), and Port (587) are filled in automatically.

💡 Pick the service that runs your mailbox, not your domain. A custom domain on Google Workspace still counts as Google.

Then, fill in the remaining fields:

Sending email address: the address your learners will see the emails coming from.
Sender name: the name shown next to it, such as your brand name.
Username: your full Gmail address.
Password: paste the App Password you created in Step 1.

Finally, click the Save settings button. You'll see an "Email settings saved" confirmation.

Step 3: Send a test email

Once your settings are saved, the Send test email button becomes active. Click it to send a test message to your own account's email address, and check your inbox to confirm everything works.

Using Microsoft or another email host

Microsoft: Select Microsoft and the server settings (smtp.office365.com, STARTTLS, port 587) are filled in for you. Most Microsoft accounts also require an app password, which you can create in your Microsoft account's security settings.
Other: Enter the SMTP server address your email host gave you, for example smtp.yourhost.com. Enter the hostname only: no https://, no port, no email address. Supported ports are 25, 465, 587, and 2525; we recommend STARTTLS with port 587 if your host supports it.

Using an API platform (SendGrid, MailChimp, MailerSend)

We use SendGrid for demonstration purposes on the article.

Step 1: Connect your domain to SendGrid

Go to app.sendgrid.com and create an account. After that, navigate to Sender Authentication in the settings.

Scroll down to the Link Branding section. Then, click the Get Started button.

Select your DNS host from the list.

ℹ️ You can select Other if your domain provider isn't listed.

Enter the domain you want to use for white labeling your emails. For example: minicoursegenerator.com

ℹ️ Ensure that you only enter the root domain name. Do not include www or http://www in this field.

Add all of the CNAME records to your DNS host's settings.

ℹ️ The process varies depending on your specific DNS host. Consult your host's documentation for detailed instructions on managing their interface.

Step 2: Get your API Key and bring to Mini Course Generator

Navigate to API Keys in the settings and click the Create API Key button.

Give your API Key a name and copy it.

Navigate to the Settings for your collection on your Mini Course Generator. Then, go to the White label email tab and activate it.

💡 You can configure white label email for multiple collections using the same API Key and domain.

⚠️ If you activate white label email functionality without proper configuration, invitation and verification emails will not be sent to your learners.

You must either deactivate or configure it correctly for emails to be delivered.

Paste your API Key, and then specify your Sending domain and Sender name. Finally, click the Save Settings button.

ℹ️ Sending domain should include the domain you connected with SendGrid.

🎊 Congrats, you've successfully configured your white label email.

From now on, all your invitation, verification and certificate emails will be sent from your Sending domain.
