Adding a Report Block
Use a report block to show analytics for a course or a collection inside Intercom Messenger. You can show:
Each user their own report
A group or company report for admins
💡 Example: If you are a B2B company sharing a course in Intercom Messenger, you can add a report block for your customer’s admin. The admin will see their company’s progress, completion status, and answers.
Add a course or collection report based on your needs.
If you choose a collection report, select the collection whose report you want to show. If you choose a course report, first select the collection that contains the course, then select the course.
Attribute Selection
Pick an Intercom attribute to identify groups or companies. This attribute helps us identify and separate your groups. For example, if you want to show a report to each company, choose a customer identifier like “Company.”
This identifier must be sent from your product to Intercom so we can use it here.
ℹ️ If the attribute you want to use does not exist in Intercom, ask your developers to send that attribute from your product to Intercom.
Target Selection
After you select the attribute, choose whether to show the report to specific groups or companies, or to all groups based on that attribute.
If you choose “Specific,” you will select the exact groups you want to show the report in the next step.
ℹ️ Each group or each group’s admin will only see their own group’s results.
Specify your Report Block Title and Button text for extra customization.
You can also choose to hide the thumbnail image of the course/collection in Intercom Messenger.
Adding Audience Rule
After you add the report block, it will be visible to everyone who can see your Intercom Messenger.
To show the report only to specific users, you should add an Audience Rule.
Find your newly added report block and click add Audience Rule.
Filter the users who should see the report.
If you want to make this report available to all of your customers’ admins, simply apply a filter where Role (or another field that identifies admins) is equal to “Admin.” Only admins will be able to see this section and download their company’s report.
If you select a specific target in Target Selection and want to show the report only to the admins of that target, apply both of the following filters: Company is equal to X and Role is equal to “Admin.”
Unless you filter here, the report will be downloadable by everyone and each downloader will see the report of their group according to attribute you select while adding the block.
Now click Save and set live button on the right top of page to set live your changes.
