Learners could always resume a course where they left off. The Continue Learning block goes one step further: if a learner leaves a course or collection unfinished, it shows up right on your Showcase page or collection landing page, so they don't have to go looking for it.
Every learner sees their own list, with their own progress.
ℹ️ The Continue Learning block is available on your Showcase page and on collection landing pages.
What learners see
The block has a heading, "Pick up where you left off" by default, and a single row of cards below it.
• It lists only what the learner has started but not finished. Completed content moves to the Your learning window.
• The most recent activity comes first, so the course they opened yesterday is the first card.
• The number of cards matches your Columns setting. Everything else is one click away in Your learning.
• Clicking a card opens that course or collection.
The cards look the same as in the Catalog block: thumbnail, COURSE or COLLECTION label, title, description and progress bar. A collection's progress is the share of its courses the learner has completed. If a collection has 5 courses and the learner has finished 2, the card shows 40%.
On mobile, the cards stack and the block shows up to 3 of them.
When the block stays hidden
If a learner has nothing in progress, the block doesn't appear at all. There's no empty box and no "nothing here" message. The same goes for visitors who aren't signed in.
💡 This means you can leave the block on your page from day one. New visitors won't see an empty section, and returning learners will see their courses waiting for them.
If a learner loses access to a course or collection, it drops off their list.
The Your learning window
Next to the heading there's a Your learning link. It opens a window with everything the learner has touched, in two tabs:
• In progress: everything they've started, with a progress bar and percentage.
• Completed: everything they've finished, at 100%.
Each tab shows a count, and a search box finds content by name within the open tab.
The arrow on each row opens that course or collection.
How to add the Continue Learning block
Go to Collections and click Edit showcase page. For a collection, open the collection and go to its Landing page tab.
Click Edit landing page, select Index from the drag-and-drop panel on the right, and drag the Continue learning block onto your page.
You don't have any learner progress of your own, so in the editor the block shows your published content with sample progress. A note above it reminds you that it's a sample view. Your learners only ever see what they started themselves.
Block settings
Click the block and open its settings.
• Title: the heading above the cards. You can also click the heading on the page and type over it.
• Columns: how many cards fit in the row, from 1 to 5.
• Link label: the text of the Your learning link.
• Show Price Tag: off by default. Turn it on to show prices on collection cards.
💡 Pro tip: Put Continue Learning right above a Catalog block. Set Continue Learning to 4 columns and the Catalog to 3, and the cards line up with the Catalog's filter sidebar and grid. Together they answer what every learner wants to know on arrival: what's here, and what should I finish next?
