Video Compatibility with Minvo (Encoding, Codecs & HDR Guide)

If your video is experiencing issues such as:

  • ❌ Audio and captions out of sync

  • ❌ Washed-out or faded colors

  • ❌ Export errors

  • ❌ Media validation errors

  • ❌ Playback inconsistencies

The most common cause is non-standard video encoding or unsupported codec settings.

Minvo works best with industry-standard formats. Below is everything you need to ensure full compatibility.

✅ Recommended Video Settings for Minvo

To avoid issues, always export your videos using the following settings:

  • Format: MP4

  • Video Codec: H.264 (libx264 recommended)

  • Audio Codec: AAC

  • Frame Rate: 24 FPS, 30 FPS, or 60 FPS

These are universal web-safe standards and ensure smooth processing inside Minvo.

🔍 How to Fix Compatibility Issues

1️⃣ Re-Export the Video with Standard Encoding (Recommended)

Action:

Re-export your video using the following settings:

  • MP4 format

  • H.264 codec

  • AAC audio

  • 24, 30, or 60 FPS

Why:

Non-standard codecs (like mp4v) can cause sync issues, rendering errors, and visual glitches during processing.

2️⃣ Check Your Video Codec

Action:

Check the codec of the file you uploaded:

  • If the codec shows as "mp4v", re-export using "libx264" or "h264".

Why:

mp4v is less commonly supported in web-based video processors and can create processing inconsistencies in Minvo.

3️⃣ Use a Video Converter (If You Can’t Re-Export)

If you no longer have access to your original editing software, convert your file using one of these tools:

  • HandBrake (Windows & Mac)

  • Adobe Media Encoder

  • FFmpeg

Action:

Convert your file to:

  • MP4

  • H.264 encoding (libx264)

  • AAC audio

Then re-upload it to Minvo.

Why:

Converting standardizes the encoding and prevents rendering or caption sync issues.

🎨 Important: Disable HDR Before Recording

Minvo currently works best with standard color profiles (SDR).

⚠️ Why HDR Can Cause Problems

When High Dynamic Range (HDR) is enabled:

  • The color encoding changes.

  • Videos may appear washed out, faded, or less vibrant after processing.

  • Contrast and brightness may look incorrect.

✅ Action:

Before recording content that will be uploaded to Minvo:

  • Disable HDR in your camera or device settings.

  • Record in standard dynamic range (SDR).

Why:

This ensures your video retains its intended color quality and visual appeal.

💡 Pro Tips for Smooth Processing

  • Avoid variable frame rates (VFR) if possible — use constant frame rate (CFR).

  • Keep files under extremely high bitrates unless necessary.

  • If you're unsure, export using a “Web” or “YouTube 1080p” preset in your editing software.
