One of the most interesting questions everybody in the football world has asked themselves: Will this player (from a minor european league) be able to play at the same level in a top league? Our Competition Level Comparison feature allows you to get a feel for how players were to perform if transferred to another competition.

Competition Level

If you click on the competition name while viewing a player profile, or by clicking the dedicated link on your dashboard, you can access this feature.

The machine learning model creates inferences from all transfers across competitions as well as parallel performances in domestic leagues and continental cups and get a representation of how all competitions relate to each other. The conversion to ratings between 0 and 10 makes it possible to see how much a player's evaluation in overall rating and stability rating would suffer or benefit from a move to another competition on average.

How to filter your competition

You can filter based on your preferences to focus on exactly the competitions your are looking for.

COMPETITION: Currently selected leagues and competitions. From this dropdown menu all leagues and competitions available in the database can be selected. Simply tap a country to select all leagues from this country.

DIVISION: Filter by the number of divisions you want to include per country.

RATING: Rating value based on our Effective Play Index.

STABILITY: Stability value based on our Effective Play Index

DYNAMIC ZOOM: This button allows zooming to the current competitions selected.

This is a cutout of the top-five leagues. The stability is shown on the x-axis and rating on the y-axis. The English Premier League and Spanish Primera Division are on top in rating and stability, with the other major European leagues following close behind.

How to interpret the values

To help you understand the performance differences, you can also call up other competitions and apply filters to get a clearer picture. If a player moves to a competition with a higher rating or stability, you need to subtract that difference from his current rating. If rating and stability of the other competition are lower, you need to add that difference to his rating.
