Overview

Adding a new product is a two or three step process:

  1. Add a new product via the Products Menu

  2. Allocate the product to a position on the POS keyboard via the Programming - Keyboard Allocation menu

  3. Update the Webshop Options if you sell the product online

All saved changes are immediately sent down to the EPoS terminal unless the EPoS terminal is switched off or the changes have been scheduled.

Step 1 - Add a new product:

Select the Products Menu

  • Use the Search button - Search for PLU group to find the appropriate group of products

  • The main PLU Programming screen will now be displayed

  • Scroll down to find a spare product

  • The basic product information required is:

    • Product name

    • Price 1 L1

    • Tax rate

  • As soon as you edit a field, the field will be highlighted red and the Save button will turn blue

  • You must click the Save button to confirm any changes

Note: You can change the product fields that appear on the main product screen by clicking on the cog icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.

  • To make detailed product changes or clone an existing product, click on the red PLU number button to edit the product details

How to Clone (Populate from) an Existing Product:

You can copy all the product attributes from an existing product into a new product. This is a quick way to setup new products.

  • Find a blank product that is not being used

  • Click on the red PLU number button to edit the product details

  • Click on the blue Populate button

  • A pop up window will now appear that enables you to search for the PLU that you wish to clone. You can search by PLU name or number

  • Click the select radio button for that product that you wish to clone and then click the green Populate button

  • You will now need to edit product name, alternative text and short description for the new product

Step 2 - Product keyboard allocation

Programming > Keyboard Allocation

Once you have created a product you need to assign the product to a position on the EPoS keyboard.

  • Click Open the keyboard editor button.

  • Click the Level drop down to select the keyboard level you wish to edit.

  • Now click on the button you wish to edit.

  • Click on the File drop down and select PLU.

  • Click in the Type to search box and enter part of the product name

  • A list of products that match your search will now be displayed - click on one of these products to allocate it to the keyboard.

  • With the button still selected you can now edit:

  • Keyboard text

  • Font

  • Text Colour

  • Background Colour

  • Click off the button and the Save changes button will turn green

  • Click the save changes button and click OK to confirm the changes

Step 3 - Adding a product to the online menu

Products - PLU Programming Details - Webshop Options Tab

  • On the product Webshop Options tab, click Show on webshop
