2. Discount Vouchers

An explanation of how discount vouchers are setup and work from a customer perspective.

Discount Voucher Overview:

Discount Vouchers are a type of Voucher that have a percentage discount associated with them.

The Voucher system controls and tracks:

  • The creation of Discount Vouchers

  • The redemption of Discount Vouchers

  • Discount Voucher reporting

Creating Discount Vouchers:

  • Discount Vouchers are created in TouchOffice Web > Vouchers > List > Actions > New Voucher

  • You can set the following Discount Voucher attributes:

    • Copies of Voucher - normally set to 1.

    • Active? - make sure it's ticked of you want to use straight away.

    • Site - you can select all sites or a specific site for redemption.

    • Voucher Code - Leave blank to Auto Generate.

    • Name - the name of the Discount Voucher.

    • Description - for administration purposes only.

    • Type - select Discount Voucher from the drop down.

    • Value - enter the percentage discount value eg 10%

    • Start Date - this is the date the discount voucher is valid from

    • End Day - the date the discount voucher is valid until. This is set to 12 months from the start date by default.

    • Voucher applies to - using the three drop down lists you can configure the discount to only apply to:

      • PLU's - specific products

      • PLU's in Groups - products in specific groups eg starters

      • PLU's in Departments - products in specific departments eg food

    • Sale must include - using the three drop down lists you can configure the discount to only apply if the transaction includes specific products:

      • PLU's - sale must include specific products

      • PLU's in Groups - sale must include a product from specific groups eg starters

      • PLU's in Departments - sale must include a products from specific departments eg food

    • Maximum Uses - discount vouchers default to unlimited use. However, you can edit the discount voucher and set a specific number of uses.

In the example below, the voucher applies to would be set for the hot drinks group and the sale must include would be set to the cakes group.

Redeeming Discount Vouchers at the POS:

  • A discount voucher card be redeemed by:

    • Scanning the discount voucher barcode (if available).

    • Tapping the Redeem Discount Voucher button on the POS payment screen and typing in the discount voucher code.

    • Please note that gift card vouchers use a different button on the payment screen.

  • Discout voucher redemption needs a live broadband connection as the discount voucher details are held online in TouchOffice Web.

Redeeming Discount Vouchers Online:

  • Customers can enter (type) the discount voucher code during the checkout process.

  • The % discount value will be discounted from the online transaction.

Discount Voucher Redemption Tracking:

  • You can search for and view discount voucher details via TouchOffice Web > Vouchers > List.

  • Clicking on the red voucher code button provides voucher details and redemption information.

  • The Details Tab shows the discount voucher details.

  • The Transactions Tab shows redemption transaction details done at the POS and online.
