Delivery Charges Overview:

  • The system can be configured to automatically apply a delivery charge to an order based on the delivery area.

  • Multiple delivery areas can be configured and each delivery area can be assigned a minimum order value and a delivery charge.

  • The minimum order value is displayed to the customer when they select the order delivery type:

  • Please note that it is NOT possible to configure delivery charges based on distance.

Delivery Area Mode Overview:

There are three modes of calculating the delivery charges:

  1. Delivery Area List

  2. Allowed/Denied Postcode List

  3. Postcode Lookup (Requires Postcode Look Up Service Subscription)

  • The Delivery area mode is set via:

  • Tillconfig.net > Takeaway > Delivery Options > Delivery > Delivery Address Lookup Mode

  • From the drop down of the Delivery Address Lookup Mode field, select the appropriate option - this MUST be done at Head Office level so all sites use the same mode.

  • Please note that you will only see the Postcode Lookup option if this subscription service has been enabled on your account.

Configuring Delivery Areas:

  • Delivery areas are configured by site via:

  • Tillconfig.net > Takeaway > Delivery Settings > Site > Delivery Areas

  • The delivery area attributes will depend on the Delivery Area Method that has been set.

1. Delivery Area List:

  • With this method you simply type in a list of delivery area names eg Preston, Ribchester, Chipping and set a minimum order value and a delivery charge for each of these areas.

  • When the user enters their order delivery address they will be prompted to select one of the delivery areas that has been setup.

  • In addition, they will also have to enter an Address Line 1. Please note that Address Line 2 and the Postcode fields are NOT mandatory.

  • This delivery method is the least accurate and is generally only used in niche delivery applications.

2. Allowed/Denied Postcode List

  • Using this method, the system checks the delivery postcode (NOT the address) entered by the customer against the postcodes configured in the delivery zones.

  • For each delivery area, eg FREE DELIVERY, £2 DELIVERY etc, you can set the minimum spend, delivery charge, allowed postcodes and denied postcodes.

  • The postcodes that you enter can be part or full postcodes eg PR3, PR3 X or PR3 3XR.

  • This method still relies on the end user typing in the address correctly and they could enter an incomplete address or make a typing error.

  • Please note that only Address line 1 and the Postcode fields are mandatory.

  • If the postcode entered by the customer does not match the postcodes defined in one of the delivery areas then they will get the error message “Sorry, you’re not within our delivery area”.

3. Postcode Lookup

  • This method requires a Postcode Services Subscription and is the most accurate method of defining a delivery address.

  • The delivery areas are plotted on a map.

  • The user has to enter their postcode and the system then searches for and displays all the addresses that have that postcode.

  • The user has to select their address from the list and the system will then pre populate the address fields.

  • If the address is not listed, there is an option for the user to enter the first line of the address.

  • If the postcode is outside of the delivery areas, the system will display a message “Sorry, we don’t deliver to your area (maybe we didn’t recognise your postcode - give us a call if you think we’ve got it wrong).
