Whole-Class Opening Activities

What are Whole-Class Opening Activities, and how to use them to launch your math class.

Written by Ebony

Whole-Class Opening Activities are how you launch your math class every day. They are designed to get students thinking, talking, and engaging with math concepts before they move into Self-Paced Work Time. In Eureka Math Squared classrooms, Whole-Class Opening Activities include a Fluency activity and a Warm-Up that appear together for each lesson.

Fluency activities build accuracy and flexibility with numbers through practice. The Warm-Up launches the lesson and connects students to what they are about to learn.
